Some random notes:
1) You may be right on TCU. You know bettors are always too late. Case in point: TCU makes title game in 2022. Bettors are hi on the Frogs in 2023, they lose opener vs COLO. Down on them now, -9 might be cheap.
2) I saw the Akron line. Tempted to take +51 on principle. OhioSt loses the biggest Off difference-maker in Harrison. New QB Howard isn't overly impressive.
...Trivia Q: Who is the last in-state team to beat Ohio St? Hint: It's been a LONG time since it happened.
3) I looked at FLA. I'm amazed the Gators aren't better. MiaFL is bringing in a new QB. This guy Ward is capable of having bad games.
4) I have my eye on Sam Hou St. They've been transitioning to FBS. Should be better after having no offense. Rice laying DD never looks right.
5) I was looking at GASt. Looks too fat for an in-state game. Note that GASt loses their record-setting QB.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
Yessir NCAAF is a long tuff grind. Here is my last year's record ytd/ 43-40/ +0.34u. Average wager was 0.4u-I think. Felt like a defensive player all year, most weeks getting beat up. Remember folks' bankrolls only reach new highs about 6% of the time. Chuck knows and tries the hardest as far as effort. Always gives good opinions. keeps his eye on the prize

It really is a challenge for the oddsmaker to get all these games right. A lot of moving parts. Especially in the Transfer Portal era.

...2nd year under Ruhle. They lost five close games last year.
...New QB Raiola is a top recruit. Looks to be the real deal.
...Veteran cast returns. I like DL Hutmacher. Sleeping giant program with a chance to be relevant this year.
1* Colo St +36.5 1.91 (@ Texas): 1 to win .91.
...TX off a huge season. I like some of the matchups for the big Dog. Rams have a nice QB/WR combo, they almost beat Colorado.
...Veteran C Gardner is a horse. He'll be going up against the space that Outland Trophy winner Sweat (2nd-round pick) vacated.
1* Western KY +31 1.88 (@ Alab): 1 to win .88.
...Natural to think there's some transition. Saint Nick exits, De Boer comes in.
...WKy QB Finley made an immediate impact last year @ Texas St. Big talent, he almost beat the Tide in 2021 when he was @ Auburn.
1* CHARLOTTE +10 1.91 (vs James Mad): 1 to win .91.
...I was scouting out this game. Charlotte may be feisty. But this is really an anti-Duke play.
...Dukes are gutted. HC Cignetti went to Indiana. Massive departures via Transfer portal.
...Almost half the 2023 team is gone. Almost like it's a new program. So, I'll try the Double Digit Home Dog.

Veri, going to post a few more Stream of Consciousness notes. Continuing my review of the Coll teams:
1) No Carol. MINN was very good in 2022. They had some key losses for 2023 and were down. The QB wasn't very good. New QB is an FCS transfer from New Hampshire. NoCarol obvious loss = QB Maye.
2) Akron. I am thinking loss and hard about that one. OhioSt is going to be #1 or #2 in most polls. To cash this ticket, we may need some mercy from Woody Hayes b/c Akron is outclassed badly.
3) OhioU. Not so sure about this one. QB Rourke departs. SYRA actually adds the OhioSt transfer McCord at QB. Two TDs is not a huge margin for this matchup.
4) FLA. May gain interest if I see +3. I'm very familiar w/ the Gator QB Mertz. He played one great game vs TENN. I saw him throw away many games w/ WISC.
5) Sam Hou St. I'll likely pass this game. Rice shows up on Steele's Most Improved list.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

Jake, go back and look at it. COLO really didn't do that much last year:
1) Win over TCU looked less impressive as the season wore on.
2) Win over NEB was against a QB-challenged team that committed turnovers.
3) Nail-biter win over ColoSt, who was a subpar team.
4) Win at the gun over ArizSt, who had a ton of injuries and went thru five QBs.
Board has generated discussion on the opener. NoDakSt @ Colo. Easy to say that COLO has too much talent. NDSt QB is a veteran who doesn't throw many INTs. Could be tricky.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

I've scouted this one out. Very likely passing on this game.
NDakSt has a veteran QB Miller, he should be prepared. And I like the NDakSt kicker Crosa, 84% FG accuracy.
The part I don't like = COLO upgrading their Offensive Line. Deion hit the transfer portal and addressed this unit. Their Rushing game was bad in 2023, and the QB got pressured by good teams. Buff Off Line will be improved. Likely passing, although the +8.5 looks tempting.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
Looking for a solid opinion on LSU/USC:
1) Wish the game was @USC. Instead, it's Neutral in Vegas.
2) LSU will be down for sure. Heisman QB departs, as well as top WR.
3) USC is more intriguing. Off a bad year, QB goes as #1 overall pick. But I think USC could actually be better. Williams fumbled too much. And the Trojans played their best game in the Bowl, after Williams opted out.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

Will make a prediction on one of my picks. Nebraska is gaining a lot of steam in the pre-season buildup!
Joel Klatt has NEB rated #22 in his poll. NEB defense was solid last year with a 3.0 Yard per Rush allowed.
Husker QB play last year was TERRIBLE. If Raiola is just an Above Avg FCS QB, Neb will easily bump up two wins this season.
I will predict that NEB line to go up. Steele will be pushing NEB. I'll call for the -27 to close at -31.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

...MICH off the Natl champ win. Wolverines in massive transition. They lose HC, QB, RB, all five Off Linemen.
...FRESNO's losses the last two seasons have mostly come when the Starting QB was injured.
...QB Keene off a sharp performance in a decisive bowl win.
...In addition to Keene, Fresno has a good RB and a solid Off Line. Brought in some transfers to form a solid Def Line.
...Moore in first game as fulltime MICH coach. I give the coaching edge to Tedford, who has been a HC for 17 years.
