Now that you mention black QBs. It reminded me when I played at UF. The clearly best scout team QB was black. When our starting QB went down and our backup QB went mental, the Gators went with a white walk on QB instead. Every player on the team, white and black could not believe it. That white walk on had a successful career and currently a head coach in college. Actually he's been head coach of 2 college teams. That black QB who was very dynamic? He transferred to Oklahoma who had another black QB that he couldn't beat out. So he became a DB and had a nice career in the NFL. That guy was very smart, got a masters degree but could not get a coaching gig anywhere. Do you know how many of those stories there are???

It was common knowledge at UF that they would not ever hire a black HC (see Charlie Strong). It took them forever to start black QBs. Most of the QBs there got converted to another position or left.

Wrong - the Rooney rule is to ensure MINORITY candidates get interviewed. Not just black candidates. The only black coach in the NFL was hired via the Rooney rule, so it's not dumb.

I consult Fortune 50 companies on talent. ALL of those companies ensure they have a diverse shortlist. You know why? Because diverse talent is ESSENTIAL in having a successful business. The companies that have not bought in on this are no longer with us and the list is long and growing yearly. So sure, stay behind in the way you evaluate talent. I already know where your business is headed.

Nope but you better believe that it would be very easy to prove adverse impact. For some reason the EEOC has not served the NFL... yet? I work with companies that have had to answer these questions. It's not pretty.

The NFL does not have black owners. Many of these owners got these teams for peanuts. Whoever said these owners need to supplement anything? We're talking about hiring good coaches, black, white, purple. Most of these owners absolutely suck in hiring just as bad as GMs in evaluating talent. I'm totally convinced you and I could do a better job at coaching some of these teams. At least better in game and clock management. I think a fan poll on draft picks would do better than most of these front offices. This shit ain't rocket science and most teams are just BAD. They need to hire some diversity and start thinking out of the box.

Will you feel the same way when Indians and Asians take all the top jobs in the country? It's not a pretty picture. Indians/Asians are kicking white, black, Hispanic kids ass in the classroom. We can't even find American PhD candidates because our kids are too entitled. So we hire kids and sponsor them to be US citizens because our own kids are too lazy. I'm hiring in emerging technologies like renewables, data science, AI, etc. It is an ugly sight. Our government HAS to get involved and start promoting these industries so that our kids are leading the future.

He grew up a Giant fan as a young kid. Imagine you interviewing for your dream job with your dream team then finding out that they already made the decision before you even showed up? He's definitely taking it personal and obviously mad. The NFL should do all they can to settle. This is a lose/lose for them anyway you slice it. Flores is a young guy. He can certainly wait out all these old guys. It is horrible publicity for a league that has had unprecedented growth. Do you know how quickly fan sentiment can change (look at the players kneeling). They could easily lose billions in sponsor rights, advertising, gambling revenue, etc. Just like Deshaun Watson's dumb ass. Sweep this shit under the rug and get back to business. The only problem is that Flores seems like a woman scorned. He may not go away so quickly.

it's like i said before, these owners own billion dollar businesses and they don't have the time to be contradicted. You do what you're told. They are in a position of authority, with thousands of employees and 1500 things they could be doing, and they want credit and someone who will take the fall for them.

And if you're unwilling to do that, if you go against the owner, you're out, whether you're black hispanic asian woman man white old young it doesn't matter.

That's the way it has been, the owners or those in power run things, no you, and never forget it.

When it does come to race, as I said before, owners are reluctant to hire a black coach and why? Because they can't get rid of this guy.

If he does well, the owner gets the blame for firing him. So what they do is, they get a young black coach, put him in a spot he can't succeed, and fire him. Look at Notre Dame's coach, no exprience.

Remember the Clippers owner Donald Sterling got roasted by the league, they dragged this guy through the mud. These owners own billion dollar businesses, their names are what they got, and the LAST thing they need is a public race war-they avoid this at almost all cost.

Look at what happened here-the Miami Dolphins owner is going to get dragged through the mud, taking up his time and damaging his reputation-and if he had to go back he would not have hired a black coach and dealt with all of it-would he.

But, the only way to learn is the hard way. Flores is 40. When he's 50, he'll know better.

A guy like Jim Caldwell, I would think he knows better. imo they should hire the more experienced black coaches, age 50+, who know better how the owner's game is played.
