My girlfriend uttered the same words as she saw it on her phone. Very sad.
RIP Eddie Van Halen

#38I've been listening to KSHE real rock radio for the past 2 hours non-stop Van Halen in tribute. Sammy still guest djs on there on the weekends sometimes. I wasn't alive during their glory days but VH is still one of the top 20 bands of all-time imo. Rip EVH.Comment -

#40Innovator and legend. When I look back at the "musical moments" that have defined my life, one that is forever etched in my mind took place on a camping weekend with junior high school classmates in 1980 or 1981. Richard Davis had brought a boombox and put in Van Halen's first album. I can still picture the entire scene vividly, can still recall -- can still *feel*, really -- my visceral reaction to hearing Runnin' With the Devil for the first time. That guitar! That tone! It was utterly mind-expanding. I think the guitar was my favorite instrument from literally that moment forward. Soon I'd be back home, lying on the couch, blissfully listening to those newly purchased Van Halen records on repeat. Today is a sad day.Comment -

#69Quite simply one of the best guitar players of all time.
Innovator and creator of the stunning 2 handed hammer on style playing technique, no one could match Eddie’s ferocious playing during Van Halen’s heyday.
Peavey Musical Instruments founder, Hartley Peavey, personally signed and gave Eddie complete control over what would become Eddie’s custom signature guitar, The EVH Wolfgang, named after his son. It was his dream to design his own guitar and the only one he ever played after the “Frankenstein” modified red Kramer strat guitar with those famous white and black stripes, which Eddie also customized and designed.
Peavey later designed the custom EVH 5150 all tube guitar amplifier stack according to Eddie’s specific requests and specifications of what he wanted in a stage amplifier.
Eddie was a great guy and super friendly. I had the good fortune of meeting him a few times back in the day at a couple of trade shows where he was the guest of Peavey Instruments.
Dude handed me one of those famous Van Halen logo picks after he was done jamming a kick ass solo,
I’ll never forget that.
We lost one of the greats fellas. If you ever got to see those early VH concerts, it was one fuk’in high energy rock show!
Rest easy Eddie. Thanks for all the great jams bro.Comment -
