I think SBR is missing the boat here. This does not have diversity built into it.

For negative posts or posters we don't like there should be a picture of 2 penises clashing... like 2 swords clashing. To the left of that you put a red negative sign or dash.

Ex: John Doe Poster punks some dude's thread for no reason. John Doe Poster, instead of starting an internet war, says, 'You know what? Negative point for you, buddy!' And then he clicks on the 2 penis sword clashing symbol.

This will also appeal to the San Francisco crowd and let them know that they are included.

DRAWBACK? RogueScholar might be hitting the 2 penis sword clashing symbol all day long... or create another account so he can bump his penis clash sword points up on into 1,000!!!

I feel sympathy for those with 10k's of posts to start from scratch but elsewise SBR would be handing out tons of LCD Tv's and sports tickets already.

SBR would be barrelled in.

If it weren't for all of the regular posters and daily contributors to the site, there would be no points at all. The points are a way to reward those people going forward, and newbies that want to come in and make their presences felt.

I couldn't agree more. If the whole Points idea really works out it could inject further life into the site. Especially from new , non-ghost posters (hopefuly!).

Also I can "borrow" points from the SBR Vault to hand out if something is really thoughtful.

It might be a good idea for everyone to buddy up with the mods.

This is fukking stupid...not only did I not get my travel paid for to the bash but now I don't get points for my posts I had.

This reminds me of an arcade as a kid where you got tickets from the machines. They had a remote control car but it was 30K tickets...each game only gave you like 3 tickets everytime you played. All you ever got enough tickets for was a stupid plastic spider ring or chinese handcuffs...
