#388Susan rice is not listed at heritage but she is +200 at betonline, shows how much these small markets vary book to book. I see it as unlikely Biden would pick someone who has, never been a politician.Comment -

#389A fair and reasonable question. And even if the answer is, "both," we're still left to wonder, "in what proportions?"Originally posted by TATUMUSRegardless of who he chooses, my question will be whether his choice is based on the content of their character or the color of their skin..
I genuinely wonder what answer to that question Dr. King would consider acceptable.
Apropos of nothing, here's my personal top 3 best speeches ever given in our nation's history:
1. JFK's Inaugural Address -- "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country," has screwed every single President since trying to write an Inaugural.
If you've got 15 minutes to kill, it's chicken soup for the soul: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnEbFJY4MZk
2. Lincoln's Gettysburg Address -- Only 272 words! I can barely write an SBR post in 272 words and he did THAT.
3. MLK's "I Have a Dream," speech. 6 minutes of inspirational justice and hope: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP4iY1TtS3sComment -

#390The Gettysburg address. Better angels of our nature. I read somewhere that his initial reaction to that speech was that it was sub-par. And it ends up being the most famous presidential speech in American history.Originally posted by MeanPeopleSuckA fair and reasonable question. #394Totally agree. My recollection is his first words when he sat back down were, "Well, that went over like a wet blanket."Originally posted by ace7550The Gettysburg address. Better angels of our nature. I read somewhere that his initial reaction to that speech was that it was sub-par. And it ends up being the most famous presidential speech in American history.
The speakers before him had all spoken for like an hour apiece (all boring, no doubt) so when Lincoln stood up and delivered a lightning bolt in 5 minutes, I think maybe it stunned the crowd.
Heh, heh, heh: "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here...."Comment -

#395Above Market Lines (available as of this writing):
1. +125 for Kamala Harris, VP nom, at BOL/Sing and at JazzSports. Limits for the bet are risk 500 at BOL, risk 100 at Jazz.
2. +700 for Susan Harris, Keisha Lance Bottoms and Lujan Grisham. As members of the Field bet at Wagerweb / Heritage, you get all three for +700.
Obv, you'd want to consider the upcoming 20% cash boost at Heritage before betting there, but WW doesn't have the boost, so if you've got an acct there, that's solid value. Limits for this bet vary by account from risk 250 down to risk 25.
3. -110 for Biden to win the Presidency at MyBookie / XBet, but with $50 limits.
MyB's also offering Dems to have a brokered convention, No, -850, a basically unloseable bet. Biden already has 2150 delegates -- well in excess of the 1991 he needs to win on the first ballot -- so basically the only way this wager resolves Yes is if Biden dies in the next two months (and even then it's unclear; a consensus replacement -- maybe someone like Andrew Cuomo -- might still win the nomination on the first ballot.)
IMHO, a team effort approach might make us all more profitable. After all, a rising tide lifts all boats.Comment -

2)Great way to get Rice at better than market value, with a couple of bonus extras, although BM has her up to +660.

#417Yeah, 27 years as a cop might not sit so well, esp if research uncovers some white cops who killed black suspects and weren't prosecuted or were given a slap on the wrist while she was Chief of Police.Originally posted by thomorinoDemings has zero national profile and was a police chief, an obvious current negative Id be very aurprised if she waa picked and I dont see her helping in Florida or any other part of the country.
And since I didn't catch hell for suggesting this before, I'll try to poke the bear again: IMHO, her dark complexion might not be doing her any favors, either. (A sort of Tony Dungy vs Romeo Crennel type thing.)Comment -
