I am a physician, and there is another wrinkle you obviously haven't perceived, that of governments, corporate, CYA, overly conservative --- that's their game. I'm surprised you keep coming up with more stuff and think I'm the one who hasn't thought about this much. Again, please, just pay attention to the argument. #145Mez, thanks for the reply.Originally posted by mezmurized2StackinGreen,
I see the point you are making.
Well written too. You obviously put some thought and time into it.
But I'll note a couple things worthy of discussion in what you wrote....and this is meant respectfully and in the spirit of "friendly" debate/discussion...
You saidThe answer is no, you are incorrect. It will very likely be lower, and at worst, will be the same. Since this premise is wrong, most of the rest of your post and conclusions are inaccurate as well. Why is this the case? Whole countries have done testing (Iceland, South Korea, etc), we have isolated cruise ships, and most of these show CFR of 0.5%. And even those countries don't count asymptomatic people who are "infected" which means we are drastically exaggerating the death rate (deaths / cases). The denominator there is definitely way bigger, and in fact, it can only be bigger by definition. So there is your bias and the truth will come out (we who have looked closely at the data already know this). Meanwhile, the media and propaganda throws out terms like (Deaths, 100k!) or "cases" which again mean nothing in themselves except for news flashes meant to scare you. Again, far more people died from many other diseases or risk related behaviors than from this, and it's not even close. The mortality rate for COVID-19 is waaaay higher than the common flu
Planning for the worst is of course an individual's option, but it doesn't make it a good option. And this isn't your action that is all on you and you only have skin in the game for. You are (it seems) supporting a shut down of almost (80%?) the entire economy. That's not planning for the worst, that's stupid. And for an overwhelming majority of people, it is extremely harmful and won't be fixed. And again, for a virus not that significantly different (or better!) than what we deal with annually.Comment -

I saw it on Twitter somewhere and did not look into it. They want to allow players to come back and play games in empty stadiums but do not think that is doable so will push back the season until the spring and play the playoffs in May.Comment -

#174-----------Originally posted by johnnyvegas13NFL said they plan on playing w fans
Can't speak for college but they prob follow suit
I agree with both above comments.
Seems logical both leagues will at least TRY to have a season.
But as I opined in a couple previous posts,
without a vaccine first, what happens after several players
on multiple different teams gets infected but initially doesn't know he's infectious?!
It can take up to 10+ days for symptoms to occur.
By then he/they may have inadvertently infected dozens of others,
and many of THOSE won't know they have it for up to 10+ days,
whilst also spreading it around.
Then they all begin getting sick. Bad sick. Bedridden. Or worse...
Keep this in mind when they begin the seasons - with or w/o fans in the seats.
Test all athletes first, you say ?! And isolate those who are positive?!
OK, sure.
But a test doesn't prevent the "tested-healthy ones" from contracting it the next day!
Or the day after, or during the next game!
A test isn't a vaccine! It just means that player has not yet contracted the virus.
Not yet.
But that can occur at any time.
If I was a bettin' man, I would take a bet ON "the NFL WILL try to begin in 2020" for $1,000
And -- still assuming no working vaccine during season -- I would take another bet
that they "will be forced to prematurely end the season" for $5,000Comment -

2) This won't, and hasn't, killed 200k, which in and of itself means nothing, which I have already stated (thousands of other things kill far more people per year weirdly you won't talk about those)
3) the true cause of death for covid isn't covid either, for most people. it's that they are on death's door with multiple chronic diseases thus they get covid otherwise they'd beat it like most healthy people (and just like the flu)
have you ever looked at a CDC report? The flu supposedly does this too, every year.but get this: COVID-19 is hospitalizing and killing people under the age of 60 !!
