You a solid capper bro. It happens to all us from time to time, long as you grading your bets well afterwords (ie making the right plays). It will turn around. You know how this shit goes. I remember one year having a stretch where every under I bet went to ot. LolComment -

#45I had air force-11.5. I deserved to win. They won by 14 on a line that closed -13.5. They had chances to score as well but got fgs. I understand it was a tough loss but it was an even harder win. I guess the big td was LUCKY but so was the big return by Wyoming just before that.Originally posted by 2daBankThat fine but when one team covering the whole fukkin Game the ppl who benefited deserved to lose. I don’t mind dumb crazy shit when I made a suspect play. Don’t like losing ones that were absolutely the right side.
Like I recall having NW vs Stanford to start year and lost on a defensive score in last seconds of Game. It sucked but NW just wasn’t a very good bet so didn’t really sting that bad. Wyo today was a good bet, those sting more for me.Comment -

#46I actually stopped playing poker for the exact reason you want to quit sports betting. I couldn't handle the swings and even more so the bad beats. It was emotionally draining.
Even with sports, I can't watch all the games. I have to just tune that shit out and check scores every now and again. As soon as I start getting obsessive about it, I just take a break. It's not worth the emotional energy.Comment -

#47Betting recreationally means it does not matter if you lose because this is the type of bettor who actually does not bet more than they can afford to lose and is in control.Originally posted by The GeneralRecreationally you will lose lose and lose. And I think more "rec bettors" may actually beak even, or make a little money, than people imagine.
Rec bettors play forever, pros rarely last.
But you're comparing apples to oranges anyway... one person is spending on a hobby for enjoyment, the other is trying to earn a guaranteed income from a system that is designed to ensure they do not..Comment -

#49I'm in the same boat. I wanted to be a poker pro first and was doing well but the variance was awful. I was constantly going under EV and the grind was soul draining. At least in betting you can hedge your bets live to reduce variance.Originally posted by gauchojakeI actually stopped playing poker for the exact reason you want to quit sports betting. #50Seriously guys. I've been betting sports for 51 years. Some were good years, some were bad. I even quit for a few after losing enough that it threatened disrupting my real life. Then came the online sports books at the same time that I retired. The first few years were great. Some of those books were easy. You could make money on arbs and middles. I even found one book that allowed parlays on the 1st half and full time on the same game. But over time they all tightened up (blame Don Best), and now those good times are gone. I once read an article that said there were only 4 games in a casino that could be beaten.
- Blackjack - if you counted cards.
- Video Poker - if you played perfectly and took advantage of the perks.
- Poker - if you were good enough to consistently beat the other players.
- Sports Betting - ah, there it is.
They all share some common traits. They all take a lot of work and a lot of time. The casinos have made it much harder to do over time. The actual returns are relatively small and quite inconsistent (there's that variance again).
So, what do I do? Since I don't like interacting with other people, I only played Video Poker at casinos. Unfortunately my health situation will more than likely keep me from ever going to a casino again (the end is near). That leaves me with this computer in bed and sports betting.
My advice to all you young ones. Forget about beating it. Work hard and try to minimize your losses. Bet recreationally. Don't bet so much that it affects your real life. Make it a fun hobby. But balance that with other fun things. Enjoy life, it's wonderful. But it will pass more quickly than you think.Comment -

#53Degenerate gamblers never quit. As long as you have money you will bet. I am certain you will bet on sport again before the year is over when you find a game that you think is too good of a line. Sports betting is winnable if bettors change the way they think, have different perspectives, have self control and discipline. Those things that you mention are variables in the game. A handicapper who reels on those little moments in the game and can't get over it is not handicapping properly. Someone like this will fail in poker too if mostly playing among stiffer competition but rake on and enjoy against the weaker opponents.Originally posted by pinnacle420In the last 30 days I’ve seen some of the worst beats humanly possible.... buzzer beaters for blown covers... guys fumbling at the 1 yard line for game winners... kickers missing 30 yard field goals for covering overs... the list goes on and on... I’ll make thousands playing poker and just give it back betting on these monkeys in sports... today I announce I’m retiring from betting on sports!!! I’ll be focusing full time on playing high limit hold em and Omaha... this year I’m up high 5 figures playing poker and down about the same about betting on these uneducated monkeys... I will no longer be betting sports!!! I did great for over 15 years of betting on these clowns but this season has opened my eyes completely!! So I hope everyone can kick some ass betting sports but it’s just not for me anymore!!! If you guys ever feel like getting racked at 2-4 hold em I’ll be at betonline grinding it out

#56If you can figure out why a number is kept where it is kept, You can win long term..
For example, Opening line for a game of total of 220 is why 220 and not 210 or 230, try and figure out.. if you know the answer, you are in the league of Sharps..Comment -
