#111Interesting. I was told yesterday by a guy who works at a casino in a Dubuque that they won't have mobile betting until like November. When I asked why, he said is like that for the entire state. In shop will be ready to go on 8/15 though.Comment -

#127Harrah's and the Horseshoe in Council Bluffs will have a grand opening on Aug. 23rd. I haven't seen which operator they will use, but Caeser's has a deal with DraftKings in other states, so I am going to guess it will be them.
Ameristar (Council Bluffs) will have their grand opening Aug. 15th at 4:00 in the Amerisports Bar.
Prairie Meadows (Des Moines) will have their grand opening Aug. 15th at noon. William Hill. It will probably be the biggest sportbook in Iowa in terms of square feet (8,600). It will take up the 4th floor (old poker room).
Lakeside (Osceola/I-35 Missouri) will open Aug.15th. If you join before Sept. 28th you get a $50 for $50 free play (William Hill).
One other thing about the law. For the first 18 months you have to open your online account at the casino. After that you can do it online.Last edited by hawkeye 16; 08-11-19, 04:26 PM.Comment -

#129Iowa all set for sports betting
Barring any setbacks, Iowa will be the first state in the Midwest to roll out regulated sports betting. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission plans to give the go-ahead at noon Thursday with up to nine sportsbooks ready at launch. That would make it the grandest opening so far in the US.
And unlike any state before it, Iowa sports betting might be mobile-ready from day one.
Regulators say at least two operators — William Hill and PointsBet — could roll out online platforms in tandem with their brick-and-mortar sportsbooks. PointsBet is aligned with Catfish Bend, while William Hill has four casino partners in the competitive market.
Launching barely three months after the law passed and in time for football season would be an impressive feat.
The commission also hopes to allow required in-person registration for prospective bettors to begin prior to Thursday. That sign-up stipulation remains in place through 2020, after which new bettors will be able to navigate the process remotely.Comment -

#131"Penn national announced Wednesday that it has entered into multi-year agreements with leading sports betting operators DraftKings, PointsBet, theScore and The Stars Group for online sports betting and iGaming market access across the company’s portfolio."
Penn owns Ameristar Council Bluffs, and theScore announced a deal to be one of the skins.
I also read an article stating that only Prairie Meadows, Lakeside and Ameristar will open on the 15th, but 8-9 more will be ready by the start of the NFL season. It's a fluid situation though, so things might change.Last edited by hawkeye 16; 08-12-19, 02:36 PM.Comment -

#136I just talked to someone at Meskawi (Tama/tribal). She said that they are going to "run it themselves" and not bring in anyone like WH to run it. Not sure exactly what that means, but it might be awesome. The OTB section is gone, and that's where the sportsbook will be.Comment -

#138I had a feeling that if anyone would go independent in would be Meskawi. That being said, she wasn't sure when they will open, and it's not hard for a book to copy lines. Plus, who knows on the juice. Still a positive I think.Comment -

One person was the poker room manager (I hadn't been to the poker room in awhile and wanted to see what was up).
Just some additional info on poker: it sounds like small daily tourneys. Cash games a bit tough to find except Fri/Sat 1/2 NL always going. Also 4/8 Omaha Hi/Lo Wed-Fri mornings.
$4 rake (10%) + $2 promo drop. $1 at $20, $1 at $40.
They have $1/hr comps and with 4 hours play you get a $42/night room rate. He said to reserve before you play because they are remodeling one of the towers and are short on rooms. The last time I stayed there, the rooms were really nice, so $42 is quite a deal.Comment
