Teams I see slipping next season are Detroit, Boston, Washington, Montreal, San Jose, Carolina, Anaheim, New Jersey.

Teams I see making a comeback are Toronto, Chicago, Vancouver, New York Rangers, Calgary.

I agree with Chicago, Vancouver, New York being in position to have nice seasons...

But how exactly can the Western Conference Runner-Ups "make a comeback"?

          come⋅back

/ˈkʌmˌbæk/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [kuhm-bak] Use comeback in a Sentence

–noun 1. a return to a former higher rank, popularity, position, prosperity, etc.: The ex-champion kept trying to make a comeback.

You can't "make a comeback" if you are already near the top, duh.

Just picture him at the next family reunion. Yep...bad idea. Anyways, Mom is really pissed at me that I am going to move forward with my citizenship and DNA tests.

I have to get going, but tell Nina I have those Canadian bacon and marinated baked beaver recipes for her.

For those who say that the Leafs are thin up front keep in mind that the Leafs had a ton of high scoring games last season, it was the defense that was the problem. I love Kaberle but I hope he goes for a 1st line center prospect...then we can go forward next year with
                  Schenn-Beauchemin/Komisarek-Exelby/White-Van Ryn/Finger
or some variation of that...either way it's solid

Future centermen of 1st line: guy we get for Kaberle
                  2nd line: Kadri
                  3rd line: Grabovski
                  4th line: Bozak

If Kaberle is traded, who moves the puck?

good D, decent goaltending, poor offence will make for another long season of low scoring boring hockey in all likelihood. 10th place maybe 9th this year. Will be much better the following years. Burke knows what he is doing so I won't be surprised if he makes a deal or 2 and sneaks in the playoffs.

It's pretty bad. Kaberle has a great contract, and he is the best puck mover on the team by a wide margin, I don't get the trade talk.

I don't believe Burke trades Kaberle.

Adding "toughness" doesn't add goals, it adds penalties. Leafs will miss the playoffs again this year, the Flyers should make it in easily with their defence finally healthy.

The defense not being healthy was the Flyer's excuse two years ago.

Their defense with Coburn, Carle, Pronger, Parent, and Timonen will be a lot better than it was in 08/09. Plus, if Briere can stay healthy that offense is pretty impressive.

Boucher/Emery makes no sense to me. I doubt either finishes the season as the starter.

Defense isn't good enough to make up for the abortion(s) they have in net.

I think their firepower (especially on that PP) will overcome their goalie issues... unless Emery keeps them on the PK. I still see them making the playoffs. To me, Biron was a career backup, so they replaced one backup with two others. But, like I said, I don't see either of them being the starters at the All-Star break, let alone the end of the season.

They are definitely going to make the playoffs, I don't think that is in question at all. They have Stanley Cup aspirations/expectations, which I don't think they have any chance of living up to.

Yeah, that I agree with completely. But then again, there are only 2 or 3 teams in any given year that have a solid chance. 4 if San Jose would ever figure it all out.
