I would take McCutchen over Hamilton and Trout over Harper and never look back

Probably not a popular sentiment given the "branding" of Hamilton and Harper, but I think McCutchen and Trout are superior players with bigger upsides and less baggage. Agree? Disagree?

Doubt it, given they haven't been blessed by ESPN the way Hamilton and Harper have.

Eh, who cares what ESPN blesses.. They will focus on the names the casual fan has heard of. Not their fault that it boosts ratings to do it. That is their job.

Hamilton wasted most of his prime.

whole new exciting crop of players coming up, or just finally blossoming like Cutch.

but for the present i think a few injuries and emergence of trout, harper, cutch have made people forget about KEMP to fast.

You are putting Bryce Harper and Josh Hamilton as equals?

Yea, Hamilton is the most talented of them out of those listed. I honestly believe had he not had the drug problem he would have been talked about as the GOAT. We are talking about a guy totally out of baseball, now considered one of the best, if not the best, hitter in MLB right now.

need to define taking him right now means for this season independently or for their careers going forward,

if in a mock draft for keepers i got #1 overall i'm taking trout.

for 2012 only? Hamilton, healthy Kemp, Braun, McCutch, Beltran, Trout, Votto

i know i'm missing one or two

How many records would be getting knocked down if Hamilton never had problems?

we need some controversy in this thread..so ill give you a name that will be laughed at and mocked until yrs later when i bump this thread,...

at risk of sounding like unbearable homer, i just gotta say Allen Craig never gets mentioned as one of these young and upcoming stars, sure he is no 5 tool guy but he can flat out rake and doesnt miss many rbi chances...10 yrs from now when everyone talking bout all these kids crutch, trout, harper, ect..just remember Craig will be a guy that post insane numbers during this stretch as well..

no doubt Trout over Harper but not sure about McCutch over Hamilton...if you factor in off the field you could very well be on point..

I'm a big Harper fan. Think he plays the game hard and wants to get on base so badly every chance possible.
