They can’t just tell him to fukk off. They would have to pull the franchise tag. Then he becomes a FA immediately I believe.

When he comes back, they can put him on an exempt list for 2 weeks and don’t have to pay him for that time. After that they have to pay him but could hold him out of games by declaring him inactive or just benching him.

Let’s be real though, each side needs the other now. If The Steelers want to make a playoff push they could use him along with Conner. At worst they could could make him backup to Conner and as insurance. Bell meanwhile needs to be on the roster by a deadline so that he becomes a FA at the end of the year.

I feel like you don’t quite grasp why he’s sitting. It’s more out of spite but he’s also said he wanted to reduce his workload this year. He wanted to go into free agency on fresh legs.

According to @EliasSports, he is the 2nd player in Steelers history with 1,000 scrimmage yards through the team’s first 8 games of a season. The other player was Le’Veon Bell in 2014 (1,086).

James Conner now has more TDs thru Steelers’ first 8 games than Le’Veon did last year (10 to 5), more missed tackles (51 to 35) on fewer touches (190 to 229), and has 8 carries of 20+ yds (Le’Veon had 3 all last year). At this point, what is Conner not giving you?

i think seeing what happened to dez had a lot to do with it. sign a big contract next year. why risk it for 7 games and a playoff run you barely get paid for? he'll probably get 4 years at 52 mil with 40 guaranteed. he can live off that. he doesn't really wanna be a steeler anymore anyway.
