And you embarrass yourself my claiming "you're all fukkin stupid." Show where I did that?
I'm pretty sure I referred only to a very small sub-set of "you all."
A sub-set to which you, clearly, belong, which is why we've all been since treated to your emotionalistic and petulant replies.
That's what you said. Calling people bigots and Euro trash and soccer clueless goofs.
The replies are petulent because you know fukk all.
And you're waaaaay too fukkin boring to carry this on.

#38You just keep on humiliating yourself.Originally posted by englishmikeYou get dumber by the post. He was pointing out it wasn't meaningless to the USA, he didn't mention Spain.
Spain scraped past Iraq, stop talking like this remotely matters to Spain.
Spain played their hearts out. They put everything they had into this contest and are devasted by their loss.
But how about we do this: you post a link where Spanish players say they didn't care this game, or didn't try, that it was nothing to them, and I won't post here any more.Comment -

I called out a small subset of the human population. A small subset of the forum posters. I specifically and greatly narrowed down the group of people I'm enjoying watch squirm today.
Yet you insist I did the opposite. You insist that I insulted everyone.
I just insulted you. However, not as well as you've been insulting yourself since.Comment -

#47pure speculation-unless you were with Spain in the locker room and spent the last couple of weeks with them while they trained.Originally posted by englishmikeAnd as reagrds 'meaningless,' it certainly wasn't an insult to the USA, let me clarify. The Spanish players have been playing full-time since the end of last July, including Champions League, and all they want to do is fukk off to the beach. I'm not saying they weren't trying but it isn't a massive shock that they lost and well done to USA for that. If anyone who watched this game thinks it would have been the same in a World Cup semi-final they're deluded.
many players on this 'Merikan team also just completed full season in Europe, including goal scorer Dempsey. how convenient it must be for your argument to ignore this...
if you knew Spain "wouldn't try their best" or "the game was meaningless to them" or "they were tired after long season," then why aren't you rich today?Comment -

#51And BTW--and I can't say this enough--I love Spanish soccer, and think they're the best. I like watching them play even more than I like watching Brazil. And they'll be better off in the long run because of this loss. Kind of like the Patriots might have been better off losing a regular season game two seasons back.
The point isn't that the US is better than Spain. We aren't. I don't think anyone is, although Brazil can make the argument, no doubt.
The point is that the US can flat out play. We belong on the pitch. We can beat anyone. We can still lose to almost anyone, but we can beat anyone. We've held our own, in big games this decade, against Germany, Portugal, Italy and Spain.
Have a nice day.Comment -

Has it occured to you that they could be Americans with a similar miopic view as your own and are just as misguided as you are?
You asked for evidence, you got it, anyone reading this thread will be able to see what you've posted after you opened your big mouth asking for proof.

#56How could an article in the Montreal Gazette be definitive proof on anything in any sport other than hockey? It CAN'T be evidence of how the Spanish players treated the game anyway, because it CAME OUT BEFORE THE GAME WAS PLAYED.

#61You guys are nuts. If this game was played in the World Cup 9 out of 10 times Spain wins big. Obviously motivation is not a word in your soccer vocabulary. If the US is #14 country in the FIFA rankings then how in the hell they never go to the round of 16 in the World Cup? If they were placed in the South America qualifiers they would be in the bottom 3 teams of the qualifiers. If they were placed in Europe qualifiers they would have a hard time beating Macedonia, Latvia and Azerbaijan. Sure it takes special skills to beat Grenada, Virgin Islands and Martinique.

u said they never reach round of 16 in world cup and i told u they reached the qf in 2002. my statement is fact yours is generalization. the us also reached the round of 16 in 1994. go take a look at spains world cup record its not something to be proud of. they are also the only team in world cup history not to get out of the group stages hosting a tournament. just cause spain won euro 2008 it doesnt mean they are the best team in the world- u need to win the world cup ONCEComment -

I have watched every world cup of soccer since 1978. Comparing Spain with US is like comparing the Lakers with the Clippers. I know more about international soccer than all of you guys combined. I can name you the starting goalkeeper of Azerbaijan, the central forward of Macedonia and the center back of Andorra.Comment
