#37Fair enough Willie.
For leadoff guys I would agree that OBP would be a more meaningful stat.
With that said, when speaking in generalities such as "the worst players in MLB", OPS is a much better stat to use as oppossed to ancient, misleading stats such as batting average or RBI's.
To add to your point on speed though (and Im not saying this necessarily applies to Tavares), speed in baseball is pretty useless if the player is rarely on base.Comment -

#38He is a easy out useless hitter. But he is a great catcher.Originally posted by Chi_archiehow is jason kendall doing this year? he's been useless for quite some time
Unlike most he will block balls in the dirt and not try to catch them unlike most catchers.Comment -

#39Yep, can't steal first. I would have put Michael Bourn into this category a year ago, but he's finally proving that Houston at least got something for Brad Lidge.Originally posted by TheLockTo add to your point on speed though (and Im not saying this necessarily applies to Tavares), speed in baseball is pretty useless if the player is rarely on base.Comment -

#40The Most useless player in MLB is a guy that makes $10million a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!
ERIC BYRNES He only had one decent year in his whole life.
This guy batted 7th or 8th with the A's, Rockies,O's and he has one good year and gets the worst contract ever.
One other guy that makes 7 million a year is Jack wilson.Yes jack wilson of the Bucs.
These two guys are the worst players for the money in years. What a joke!
Adrian Gonzales for 3 mill a year is the best for a hitter!
I can make a list of 100's of guys that should not be in the majors.Comment -

#41Hundreds?! As in at least 200? That's over a quarter of the current rosters as of today. I'd like to see that list.Originally posted by OtherSideI can make a list of 100's of guys that should not be in the majors.Comment -

I'll add another one though. Scot Shields (now out for the season. good riddance). Actually throw in the entire Angels bullpen. No actually throw in their entire pitching staffComment -

Thats easy to have at least 200.On average 6 or 7 a team and some teams will have more or less.
I dont feel like doing this but its very easy.

#50Yes, I understand the subject matter. Just that it only stands to reason when you cut 200 players, you need to promote 200 players. Which ones are they, or what eight teams do you contract?
Your turn to play

I vote for Emilio Bonifacio. A lead off guy with a sub .300 OBPComment -

he's still useless, even his DP turning is super slow and prevents some of them from getting turned. him and hanley have the least dp's turned in mlb this year, which is just unfathomable given hanley's range/arm THUS its gotta be 2nd making up the problems
bonifacio blows alot too and shouldnt even be on the team, ill def give u this one lol
and im happy to see the starters for phillyt this weekend, finally we play them with our #1/2/3 goingComment -
