That said, even with that going for him, the fact that I still give Soderling just a 25% chance is still a testament to Federer's greatness.
I agree that Soderling has a chance that's why I'm hedging my Federer to win French open future bet with the Soderling ML. I'm slightly concerned here.

Even during his prime, Federer has always struggled at the French Open because he is nowhere near as good on clay as he is on grass.

This is why Federer was 10-1 to win the French Open at the start of the tournament as compared to being odds-on (below even money) to win Wimbledon.

Laying -400 on Federer in this spot on a surface he clearly despises is crazy.

I'm sure there will be a lot of "I told you so's" if Federer pulls this thing out but there should be no "ifs and or buts" when laying -400 and even the strongest Federer backers would probably admit there are question marks with Federer in this spot.

Can't agree. If not for Nadal, Federer would have won 3 or 4 Roland Garros titles by now. He's also won 5 masters on clay, and would have 9-10 but for Nadal.

He's about as all-court as you can get. The only surface he's noticeably weaker on is carpet.

lol, he has not choked under pressure, he has lost to Rafael nadal who is the best player in the world right now and amazing. The matches they have played together have been insanely competitive and last years wimbledon was the best tennis match I have ever seen.

Roger Federer is the value here, there is no way that Soderling beats Federer 25% of the time in the long run. I know that Soderling is better than he used to be but Federer has has won 20 out of 21 sets against him!!! That is pretty dominant, 9-0 lifetime only losing one set. How do you come to the conclusion that he has a 25% chance in this match?

Another informed post. Sometimes I think HeeHAWWWW is one of the only guys paying attention.

The crowd has been behind him the whole way. He's getting a lot of support from "the French crowd who hates him."

Also, as for the "Soderling is young and better conditioned" comment, Soderling turns 26 in August, and Roger turns 28 in August.

Incorrect. Soderling turns 25 in August. It's a three year age gap.

Still, though, pavy was overstating it. 24-25 is not that young in tennis.

And Federer wins it as I type this. Straight sets.

2nd, you said in another thread a few days ago that federer sucks on clay or something to that effect, ummmmm, he is now 29-4 the last 5 yrs (05-09) at the french and 29-0 against everyone not named nadal

you also said the lakers play no defense but they dominated defensively against the nuggets the last 2 gms of the series to close them out in 6 and they dominated orlando in gm 1 winning by 25 pts

you are so blinded by your hatred of players and teams that you are making the most ridiculous statements that make it seem like you know absolutely nothing about sports
and thats exactly what fed did again, he spoke both french and english. when you love a sport you remember these things and they dont surprise you. the crowd was yelling "rog-er.....rog-er.....ro-ger"
several times during the match at key pts

and now fed is 30-4 from 05-09 against everyone not named nadal and 30-0 against everyone else

He is Swiss though, not exactly surprising he speaks fluent French :-)

Try Luxembourg for a laugh, everybody speaks luxembourgish/french/german/english bare minimum, and fairly normal they have 2 or more "foreign" languages on top of that. Even 10+ isn't uncommon.
