Yep, the US and China (I think) can't buy EOS and register at the EOS website. The EOS guys didn't want to invite any trouble with US regulations. Some are using a VPN to go around it but basically all you have to do is buy your EOS at any exchange, transfer it to a personal wallet where you own and have access to the private keys (as well as the public keys, of course) and then use myetherwallet.com as the "agent".
