Pretty average earthquake hit maybe 5-10 years ago and shook the hospital pretty good. He was in the middle of open heart surgery when this happened. A handful of people that were in the room still work there and tell the story "as soon as the building started shaking, everyone in the room was making sure the patient was OK and trying to figure out how to get them off the table if needed and to safety, and the only thing anyone saw of the surgeon was his ass going out the door."
He eventually made it outside to safety, only to have to come back and finish the case. He still hasn't lived it down.Comment -

A separate incident, since we're on the topic of doctors running away, was in OKC a few years back. A cardiologist I worked with was in clinic in Moore, Oklahoma seeing patients when it was announced a pretty bad f-4 or f-5 tornado was going to hit the Moore Regional Hospital, which is where the clinic was at. Anyways, the hospital was flattened but no one died.
The next day he came into work in OKC at the big hospital and had to face the music. Other cardiologists were yelling at him, cussing at him, because he left his staff in harms way while he ran. He's a major kunt and he lost respect from every single employee (doctors, nurses, techs) in that hospital and it was a good year before people weren't harassing him about itComment -
