well hitters 1-5 anyways...... current players

any team, any position ie, your 3rd hitter and 4th hitter can both be 3rd basemen in real life......

i thought the 98/99 Astros had the most perfect lineup i'd ever seen, all the players then were in their prime

yep, that was a real nice collection of players.

the 2004 cardinals were fantastic too, fell apart in the series though.

Call me homer but I feel Youkilis should be in the top 5 of a lineup. May not have the power numbers of others, but he takes pitches, can foul pitches off, he wears out teams starting pitchers and makes the other team go to the bullpen sooner.

Chi, I will look at stats later, and come up with some better reasoning.

Considering Ruth played his entire career in afternoon games, I'd have to say, "Yes!"

Actually, a better question would be how would the stars from say 1970 to today handle going back to the 1920s or so and playing with that era's technology? The segregation issue aside, put Manny and Barry and Big Mac and A-Rod in wool uniforms under the sun for a doublehader with no batting helmets, no batting gloves, no body armor, and have them train from New York to St. Louis the night before the game.

The segregation issue aside, put Manny and Barry and Big Mac and A-Rod in wool uniforms under the sun for a doublehader with no batting helmets, no batting gloves, no body armor, and have them train from New York to St. Louis the night before the game.

But I did say the Babe was the best! How many wins would he have had if he stayed a pitcher? 300? Forgot about Carew, probably have to take out Clemente, put Carew at 2B, move Rose to left, and Aaron to right!
