It certainly is sound advice... I didn't give him the last one though, which sadly only a few of my buddies on here actually believe to be true.

If I did give it to him, don't you think I'd be begging for forgiveness by now? I can't beg for forgiveness for something I didn't do, that's why I'm so indifferent about the whole curse thing. I'm more frustrated with myself and my capping then a "curse" I did nothing to warrant.

I feel like complete shit. I spend hours a day reading information and statistics on these players, getting to know every batting order, pitching staff, and bullpen from top to bottom. I'm a passionate sports fan and I love handicapping, which is exactly why I was pursuing a job in this field.

Times like this, I have no love for sports or handicapping. Hate them both in fact.

Makes me realize how far away I am from actually being a halfway-decent capper, makes me realize that no matter how many hours I pour into trying to improve my craft, its all for nothing.

Meanwhile my favorite team's biggest rival looks to potenentially be well on their way to a 2nd Stanley Cup, and my other favorite team had a terribly shitty draft, leaving me with even less reason then usual to be excited about another 4-12 season.

I'll save you the trouble of starting your own thread. I'm already completely down, have zero faith in my handicapping, and the entire world of sports does nothing but annoy me right now.

By all means, now's the time to tell me what a loser I am! Normally I'm just amused by the ribbing and the insults, but when I'm actually feeling a little vulnerable for a change, you have the chance to hit me below the belt when it can actually hurt. Make your day!

You guys need to lay off Dave, and I mean right now. He's the best Mod we have, and second place isn't even in sight. This isn't a job to him, it's a passion and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. He stakes more of himself on these picks than all of the rest of us combined, because he does all this work even with no money on the line. He works his ass off for our community, does everything they ask at the office, and then comes and socializes with us after hours. He's the only person at SBR that shows any heart in dealing with us, and when we hurt, he hurts for us. Why the fvcking hell can't we just return the favor?

You know we've got a pretty motley crew here on SBR. The number of people that we can parade out as shining members of humanity is so small that they can all be counted on the fingers of one hand. I challenge any of you to come up with enough names that you don't have a finger left for Dave. Take a good hard look in the mirror, and ask yourself what Dave ever did to you that you might for a minute think that this kind of ridicule and derision is acceptable. We're all going to have to face our maker someday, and don't be surprised if this incident isn't brought up in that conversation.

Dave's picks may be struggling right now, but he still puts out more consistently useful information than any ten other posters on a daily basis. Show him some compassion and encouragement, and then you'll be entitled to expect the same the next time you go on a cold streak. It happens to us all, and thus we should be the most compassionate to those who are suffering from it.

Oh, and to set the record straight, I checked the server logs and it was Willie that gave Nicky the infraction. For reasons only known to him, he chose to use the anonymous "SBRforum Staff" account to dispense it, and then even more surprisingly decided to let Dave take the fall for him. So Nicky, I know you'll do the honorable thing and apologize while simultaneously lifting the curse. We have bigger fish to fry amongst us than abusing Dave when he's feeling low. We need to band together and expect better from our community leaders.
