Only if machine is still under warranty and repair is going to be free. Otherwise, you are going to have to pay for parts and labor. So, you are going to pay for parts either way. The labor has two components, expertise and physical work. You can obtain expertise on the forum for free and the physical work is trivial. If you are well off and would not want to waste your time doing this then repairing is not a good choice anyway because you should just buy new and better machine.

where can i get a Windows XP CD from and how do i boot from it if windows won't start?

sounds like your F disc is shot. What that means is the "wall" that holds all the data in place is chucked. New computer time

BB wants $300 to do it...i am just going to take it there tomorrow, most computer problems i can fix..sad to say this one i can't and i have tried everything i know of to fix it

took it to a local shop..should be alot cheaper to get it fixed than Best Buy
