We have not had the free market for a long time. The further away from free market principles the economy drifts the worse it gets. The problem started piling up under Bush when the free market was mostly abandoned in favor of government spending.Originally posted by Todd2122

Okay, I am done for the night. You like answering questions not posed to you. I think we probably agree more than we disagree. I just still haven't heard a good argument why we should not in these terrible economic times support our fellow countrymen. Even if Toyota makes a better car than Ford, it makes it more likely they will continue to do so by buying one and supporting their R&D, which in turn will force Ford to fire American engineers, accountants, marketers, etcs, which will in turn, accelerate our demise. Todd, when it comes to your opinion on the currency being debased, you're ignoring a very important aspect: people continue to demand USD because it is still considered the safest currency to hold. During a crisis people flock to U.S. t-bills. Why hasn't the USD fallen to shit despite the fact that the U.S. has had trade deficits for a long, long time now?Comment
