Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich dubbed the national debt a “burden for our children for life.” Ex-Rep. Dennis Kucinich vilified Republicans for adding, by his calculations, $4 trillion to it. Rep. Michele Bachmann, meanwhile, predicted debt will precipitate a future of “indentured servitude to foreign lenders.” What unites these and other presidential candidates is that they themselves are in debt. Campaign debt. It’s a dubious distinction shared by Democrats and Republicans, eccentric nonagenarians and White House occupants. Such debt isn’t really hurting anyone but creditors — certainly not the nation nor its creditworthiness. But it is a reminder that despite candidates’ soaring rhetoric about fiscal responsibility, they often fail to follow their own prescription for sound budgetary management amid the relentless rush to remain competitive with political rivals during election seasons that are longer and more expensive than ever. Until the debts are paid, the federal government requires former candidates in most cases to keep their campaign committees open and, technically, active, meaning some of the indebtedness stretches back decades. Following are the nation’s top presidential campaign deadbeats who still find themselves at least $100,000 in the red, according to a Center for Public Integrity analysis of disclosures filed with the Federal Election Commission: 1.) Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga. Election year: 2012 Debt: $4,595,394 The back story: For a moment in December 2011, Gingrich appeared to have requisite momentum in his bid to capture the Republican presidential nomination. And then, the moment passed. That didn’t stop the former House speaker from continuing to spend lavishly on his flagging campaign, which finally petered out in April 2012 when it became clear rival Mitt Romney would capture the GOP banner. Among the dozens of debts totaling nearly $4.6 million the Newt 2012 presidential committee still owes as of March 31: more than $983,000 to Moby Dick Airways for chartered air travel and more than $413,000 to the Patriot Group for private security services. Gingrich’s campaign also owes Gingrich himself about $647,500. Other vendors waiting for Gingrich to pay them back include Twitter (nearly $13,000 for a media buy), Herman Cain Solutions (more than $16,500 for “strategic consulting/travel”) and Verizon Wireless ($862 for cell phone service). The committee also disputes about $130,000 worth of bills from vendors. Gingrich has of late attempted to raise money to pay down his debt by renting the personal information of his supporters to data companies. But the income has barely made a dent in his obligations, which at one point reached nearly $5 million. Gingrich has also created the Committee for America, a federal joint fundraising committee that states it’s raising money for the dual purpose of retiring his presidential committee’s debt and funding a separate political action committee he runs — the American Legacy PAC, which most recently reported about $60,000 in available cash after having spent most of its money late last year on telemarketing expenses. Gingrich officials did not return requests for comment, although a former spokesperson R.C. Hammond last year explained: “Our preference is obviously not to have gone into debt. If we could eliminate the debt overnight, we would. But realistically, this will take years

You know the clintons could have the morals of satan himself. But there have been so many false narratives that we the tax payers have had to fund.white water netted the attempt to impeach him with monica. newt and 3 of his cronies lost their jobs for worse peversions. this server and emails is nothing but shit when carl rove erase 2.5 million emails that were used on the rep. nat. cong. server.itis believed that some of these pertained to 911 benghazi for clinton there were 13 benghazi under bush losing 60 people and 1 ambassador.bush started wars and if you disagreed with him you were considered a traitor. but they have no problem being horrible to obummer. we hear about liberal media but the wash post was one of the main reasons clinton is going thru this. the republican way is do as i say not as i do. trump is because people are fed up with the republican applications but the right is trying to blame the left for their problems. i hope he gets elected so he can serve as zachary taylor for your party. look him up irish and what he did to the whig party.

It's your opinion... and not a legitimate fact... if it is or isn't a slogan for any candidate.

In 2012, 53 percent of voters in the general electorate were women. 28 percent were minorities (that number will increase again significantly this fall).
Again, how do you expect Trump to win when he's going to get slaughtered in these demographics?

Google "trump slogan", or "Make America Great again" or "Trump hat" and every bit of it leads back to Trumps campaign
So to be technical, you are incorrect and the old man in the video is correct, that hat is political garb, it is a pop culture symbol of Donald Trump.

Ive been saying this for years, that the GOP is dead. And its only gonna get worse going forward.
Inevitably, some Rethuglican will post a single video of some low IQ black man or woman, akin to Brooks, that supports Trump. Then they'll point to that video as proof that immigrants and minorities support Trump
The GOP's biggest problem isn't necessarily that their platform is mismatched with American people, it's that their own support base is Fukking ignorant.
Reminds me of the saying "Christians are the #1 reason in the world that more people aren't Christians".... Same thing with the GOP, well educated people see videos like the one in the OP and think "holy fukk, I'd never join that party."

Couldn't agree more. I've voted more Republican than Democrat in my 20+ years at the polls, and I'd love to vote for someone other than Hillary. The party is completely and utterly clueless, though. This ain't 1984 anymore. Ronnie isn't walking through that door, and neither are enough "It's morning in America" lemmings to carry a racist, sexist fascist back into power.

If the guy in the video want's to seek legal advice or counsel he has a decent case. He's being discriminated 100%. I'll explain why....
For one thing... it's a plain hat. In no reference does it say Trump's name. Now, (for example) if he wore a shirt that said "Trump In 2016" yes... he's not allowed to wear that. Clearly says TRUMP on the shirt.
But... "Making America Great Again"
WTF does this really mean? The guy is going to vote... and by his vote... he wants to make AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Clearly the guy is happy to vote... and because of a "generic" wording on a hat... you told him he couldn't vote?
I don't care if the dude was making an a$$hole video.... the guy telling him he couldn't vote had no grounds to tell him he couldn't. Zero. And that's discrimination.

no logical fallacy whatsoever. I've exposed what a hypocrite you are, just because you don't like it does not make it a fallacy. Spend some time learning about them today.
that would be like when I exposed how ignorant you are on economics and you saying it is a logical fallacy. lol it doesn't work that way amateur.
