pul that thread up, im pretty sure everyone on sbr said he would hit 400 and i said he would hit like 370 or something. which i think he did. he is 35 yrs old, of course he wasnt going to keep that up. but yes, he is a bad ass. just bc he didnt hit 400 doesnt mean i dont think he is great. its just stupid that people thought he would hit 400. but most people here are bettors, not fans.

williams did it in an era without specialized relievers. And Molitor and Brett threatened, as did Gwynn. But its just so hard, and its cool he kept it at 400 into june, but i doubt anyone who knows mlb, including chipper himself, really thought he had a shot. its just too hard

Only reason i thought he could sniff it was he has such a great eye at the plate and takes walks. Hell, he is also so injury prone he may have only had to do it in the minimum number of ABs, which may have worked in his favor.
