#73Originally posted by themajormtHonestly Matt I wish I went by myself the few times I have been... When I go to Vegas I am there to gamble and do everything that is closely related to gamble. I am not there to go see the stupid lions at the MGM or guy get a $1 margarita at some shit hole. I met a ton of people playing poker and hanging in the sportsbooks when I could convince my gf to go shopping. You will definitely be able to meet people, the pool at the Monte Carlo had a ton of women there during the day also...
Its funny reading your post because this past weekend my gf told me she was going to Puerto Rico with her friends and I told her THANK GOD, so now I can finally go to Vegas by myself and do whatever I want on my own schedule!I'm sure I'll have a blast regardless - simply discovering Vegas in terms of "advantage gambling" should be fun. Just sucks that I won't get to make the trip with my bro, we rarely do stuff together and we'd planned this for months.

#74Matty,
Either way you will enjoy Vegas. It's good to have a little "me" time so go and have a blast. I love Vegas and would kill to go there solo without my wife. You are going to have a blast buddy. Just take everything in and bang a few chicks while you're at it. Oh......and do yourself a favour and go eat at The Grand Lux Cafe at teh Venetian or the Palazzo. You also can't go wrong with the Cheesecake Factory at the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace.
Your Pal,

Your Pal,
Puck OffFunny you should mention the Cheesecake Factory - I had one of their cakes for the first time yesterday, the one with Reese peanut butter cups in it. It was insane! I'm still on a sugar high.

#76Originally posted by Matt RainUpdate - I'm pissed off.
My bro dropped a bomb on me last night - he's switching jobs in 2 weeks and the new boss won't allow him to take any vacation before next year. Barring a last-minute replacement - which seems unlikely with 3 weeks to go - it looks as though I will be making the trip on my own. There's no way I'm not making the trip as I've been waiting so long to take some time off, but I'll need to change a bunch of plans.
Serious question - what is a single guy to do by himself in and around Vegas for a full week? Anyone ever done it without feeling like a loser?
If you going to gamble the whole trip and hang out a the craps or blackjack table and sportsbook with the rest of the degens then it will still be cool but pretty much all non-gamble stuff I would imagine would suck alone...Comment -

#77I put together a quick solo Vegas trip guide for you....
Gambler's bookstore (any true gambler could spend hours here by themselves)
Daytime tour of the "other" downtown casinos (Hit up the Western, El-Cortez, Golden Spike, and Lady Luck as everyone should see both sides of Vegas their first time... (The Lady Luck has been closed for "renovations" for like three years but still worth a pass by while in the area) This shouldn't take more then an hour as you will walk fast... Also note that the key word is DAYTIME trip)
Hilton or Ceaser's sportbook (either could be your home for the trip)
Nighttime trip to Industrial Road (bring lots of one's)
if you play poker the Bellagio or MGM pokerroom are both nicer rooms where you can find a big selection of lower stakes games... (their sportsbooks are both decent sized and conveniently close to the pokerrooms which is always nice as well)
and finally (but not least) a quick trip to Pahrump is always an option (a short drive if you have a rental car or they will send a free driver if you cover the tip and call ahead)Comment -

#79Thanks a bunch Herbie!I've already planned to hit the book shop, have a short list of stuff I wanna get. And I will certainly swing by the poker room at the Bellagio while I stay there (I booked 2 nights in the middle of the week - me cheapskate). I'm not much of a poker player, but I figure it'll be the easiest way to meet like-minded degens.
I checked out a bunch of these legal brothels, and good lord these girls are nasty. As a last resort maybe.
S'it August yet?Comment
