Mama always told me to catch the ball with 2 hands and secure to the body when all you need is a 1st down.

#122I'm not a Cowboys fan. I am a rules expert. His going down was not part of the act of catching the pass. He caught it clean then took steps 1, step 2, step 3, then stretch out. #125I was on the fence yesterday. I agreed with the original call on the field, then agreed with the overturn explanation of the ball popping out. Now seeing it again, it's clearly CATCH-STEP1-STEP2-STEP3-STRETCH-FUMBLE-RECOVER. At the very least, I hope the NFL admits it botched this one, this clip makes it crystal clear to me:Originally posted by d2betsI'm not a Cowboys fan. I am a rules expert. #126Originally posted by Auto DonkFACE has it right..... everyone pretty much agrees he took THREE mother f'n steps........ and he was trying to extend the ball into the end fck'n zone..... dumbass shoulda just kept it close and taken the ball at the one instead of goin for the t.d. .... but he never dreamed those dumbfcks they call refs would say he didn't make a clean catch.......... as i said...... it's a f'n fck job!
Yes that is what I noticed he actually reached for the end zone intentionally when he couldve just cradled the ball with both arms covering the ball from the ground. Unfortunately a spectacular grab turned into a game-breaking moment. However I wanted to see GB play Seattle all along so it dont matter to me.Comment -

#128That's what I've been trying to say. I wonder what would have happened if he had been a couple inches closer and that the exact same thing happened but the ball had broken the plane of the goal line. Based on the ruling, it could have been the same no catch, I guess.Originally posted by slacker00I was on the fence yesterday. You can clearly see that he lunged forward with the left arm while the ball was secured. He caught it and THEN took steps and a lunge.Comment -

#130The rule has been in place for several years....It's called the process of completing the catch. In most peoples eyes he caught the ball, under NFL rules, it's incomplete. It's pretty simple. Dez can wait for the refs to say they got it wrong...He'll be waiting a long time.Comment -

#140Either guys forget, or it's just because this was a more important play, but this has been consistently called incomplete since they put the stupid rule in place. The sad part is people were pissed on the calvin johnson one and nothing changed. If you compare the calvin johnson one to this, it is quite similar. You could argue calvin johnson putting the ball on the ground with clear control is a football move.
People forget why they have this rule. it's to give the official something to base those plays where a guy comes down with the ball and it's immediately punched out. Those before were highly subjective. Unfortunately they probably won't amend the rule because they don't want turnover city.
This rule comes up all the time, most of the time it's passes over the middle. looks like a sure catch and fumble, but by the rule, it's incomplete. That's the way the nfl wants it.Comment
