I think everyone should start their own thread with their own poster of the month. Maybe even two or three each.

Just have poster-of-the-month threads scattered about higgledy-piggledy at the start of April. Then someone could capture it all in a Warhol-like silkscreen. Would it be as artistic as Brillo boxes? I say definitely.

If I was casting a serious vote, I think I would have to say dwaechte. He started a curling thread. We had an intelligent discussion on the topic. Opportunities for good curling discussion are rare on the forum.

It was the highlight for March for me. I'm not even positive I'm spelling it right but:

Dave, I didn't really get into the whole Shanty-mania. I found it amusing, but not especially noteworthy.

Mudcat, I obviously missed something in not reading that thread. As usual I think you brought a much needed dose of reality to this pageant. Also, thanks for defending me when Dozer again chose to assume the SBR Bigot of the Month mantle and try to paint me as a child molester yet again. You took a stand on my behalf, and just as in times past, it meant the world to me.

You can't go saying that you are taking this out of JJ's hands because this should be decided democratically, and then leave out one of the month's most talked about and popular posters because you personally didn't think it was noteworthy. How is your way any better if it is also tainted by personal preference?

Shanty had a wildly popular thread dedicated just to him (The Prick video) and has had countless nominations this month, including one by Bread, the poster you voted for.

If I started a poll on who had the best logo in the Pac-10 and left out Oregon State because I personally thought their logo wasn't anything special, would that be fair?

I also agree that shantystar needs to be included in the poll. Shanty "Soft Pretzel" has already a soft porn deal with Rubyn "Small Pecker Rider" at a local XXX theater near you by Memorial Weekend.

Dave, do you really think it's so hard to use the Write-in candidate option and make a post saying Shantystar? Bread and Mudcat figured it out just fine, and people can follow their example. It'll probably baffle AAO, but he'll just come into chat and ask how to do it like the other day when he came into chat to ask "Is Costa Rica a long distance call from the United States? I've never called there before so I have no way of knowing..."

I never said my method was the most perfect, I decided on nine nominees without the benefit of a proper nominations process, and while it's already proved flawed, at least I included a remedy for my oversights when I structured the poll. Personally, I've been over at EOG more lately because until the Bread/Pavy feud this forum was pretty stale. I didn't see you do anything to attempt to ascertain the disposition of the posters on the Poster of the Month award, so I'll thank you not to criticize my efforts.

And if you phrased a poll on who had the best logo in the Pac-10 and then only listed nine teams, I think your intelligence would come into question long before your bias was ever addressed.

Shantystar definitely captured hearts and minds in March when he delved into the uncharted area of sticking light bulbs in people's butts and "enlightening" them.

Does he mean he will run electrical current through the person causing the lightbulb to glow from the butt?

Or does he mean he will deploy the lightbulb then give a lecture on Descartes?

As with all things shanty, it is not so important that there be a definite answer as it makes you think.

The difficulty or lack there of is beside the point that your initial poll is flawed because you let your personal opinion dictate who to include.

In fact, the popularity of Shanty in the write-in category further proves my point that he should of been included in the poll in the first place, not your point that it "isn't difficult to do".

Had you left him off because you forgot about him, that would be one thing. But admitting that you were aware of "shanty-mania" and then not including hm because you thought said mania was not noteworthy, that is getting personal bias involved; exactly what you accused JJ of doing.

I rest my case. Proceed.

RogueScholar of all people I would imagine is okay with someone disagreeing with him in a respectful manner.
