Uh, WRONG.
"President Bush advocated the "Ownership Society." According to the New York Times, "he pushed hard to expand home ownership, especially among minorities, an initiative that dovetailed with his ambition to expand the Republican tent — and with the business interests of some of his biggest donors. But his housing policies and hands-off approach to regulation encouraged lax lending standards." He insisted that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the GSE) meet low-income housing goals and advocated government loans to help low-income homeowners make down-payments. The Bush administration also replaced Fannie and Freddie's chief regulator in 2003 immediately after the regulator published a report warning of the risks posed by the GSE."

#19The problem with government spending is it NEVER goes in the right direction.
In a best case scenario, if the government spends a million, it might receive half the benefit that the same million would get in the private sector. The amount of "pork and "waste" when it comes to government spending is absolutely incredible.
The $700 BILLION TARP monies are a good example. The entire purpose of the TARP program was to use the $700 BILLION to buy toxic assets from the banks. The vast majority of republicans in congress voted against it because they knew it meant the beginnings of wretched socialist policies with the first piece of the framework being put in place. The market then dropped 800 points, the media spread armageddon and the bill was shoved down their throats so they voted for it the 2nd time around.
In one breath Henry Paulson said this $700 BILLION program must be passed immediately to buy all the toxic mortgages from the banks and then a short time later, they decided to use the money for other purposes like bailing out the automakers and handing over $165 BILLION to AIG. Now Obama and the democratic congress are allocating another TRILLION to buy the same toxic assets from the banks that were supposed to be bought the first time around.
Is it any wonder why the taxpayer doesn't trust the government to do what they say?
Pay no attention to DaggerKobe's useless chart trying to compare national debt levels rising under republican presidents. Even the most brain-dead liberals know that its congress that decides how money is spent and NOT the president. However, if they made a chart comparing debt levels and the party that controls congress, it would show that the democrats are responsible for the majority of deficit increases as they are the ones who feel the need to waste money for every social program under the sun.
The chart starts in 1975:
From 1975-1994 it was the democrats that controlled congress and were responsible for all those massive increases in our country's deficits.
The REPUBLICANS controlled congress from 1995-2000 and were the ones responsible for the Clinton surpluses.
Starting with the Bush administration, it was all republicans. However, the 9/11 tragedy along with the internet bubble bursting caused the government to spend a whole lot more money while taking in far less revenue. While there were legitimate reasons for the increase in deficit during the 6 year republican run, I have always believed in "the buck stops here" and the republicans have no excuse for their behavior which explains why they have lost all their power since.
WileOut, the democrats are FAR MORE RESPONSIBLE for the credit and housing meltdown as you originally stated. Democrats were the ones who were PUNISHING banks for "red-lining" against lower income people and designated minorities as the banks knew these groups had much higher default rates.
After years of democratic party pressure, the banks stopped "red-lining" only under the premise that they would charge higher interest rates to these groups to offset the increased risk of default. This is what led to the "easy credit" which eventually caused the credit and housing meltdown we are experiencing now.

#20Well those of you who voted Obama now see him raising taxes on the poor to help kids whose healthcare should be federally funded under the budget instead of on the back of cigarette smokers.
I call it the Pussy tax, because they just keep pumping out the kids, and we pay for them.
Even Octomom gets $1000 a month in foodstamps, and thousands of tax dollars a year back just because of the pussy tax. My theory is if you can't afford them, don't have them. Simple!Comment -

#23SOOOO... how did Obama win??? Amazing !!!!
Interesting Statistics:
Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law,
St. Paul, Minnesota, points out facts of 2008 Presidential election:
Number of States won by:
Democrats: 19
Republicans: 29
Square miles of land won by:
Democrats: 580,000
Republicans: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by:
Democrats: 127 million
Republicans: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Democrats: 13.2
Republicans: 2.1
Professor Olson adds:
"In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won by Republicans
was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.
Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in
government-owned tenements and living off various forms of
government welfare.
Professor Olson believes the United States is now somewhere
between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's
definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's
population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.
If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal
invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to
the USA in fewer than five years.Comment -

Wanna know the great thing about chain letters? They are usually full of shit.
For the record, Obama won 28 states [As well as the District of Columbia and Nebraska-02] while McCain won 22 states. I won't even bother with the rest of the statistics if they can't even get something as simple as that down.
It would be a good idea if you fact checked your shit before posting it.Comment -

I always note right-wingers are always showing off chain letters as fact. Like the one that said Obama was sworn in on a Koran in 2004 [It was Keith Ellison, not Obama]. Of course, this chain letter thought there were 48 states so what can you do?
I wonder if I should stick around for an apology...Comment -
