In a 10 team league this offense is going to be dominated week after week. You'll most likely go 4-6 every week...with a few 6-4's thrown in when a guy's team is injury ridden and you can get a lucky win in HR. A major deal for a big hitter is needed here.

Burrell for the comments above should be less than stellar. He loses one of the top HR parks and the top offense when he departed. That shouldn't translate to a better year...

Only two guys in my starting line up hit lower than .275 last year; Uggla (who certainly will again, but 30 bombs at 2B is worth it) and Ortiz (first time under .287 over the last 6 years, likely to bounce back).

I'm not saying I have the best offense in the league or that it can't use some work, but just about every guy on this list is a minimum 80 / 20 / 80 / .275, which should at the very least put me in the 4th - 7th range.

And remember, of course, I make tons of moves on the waiver wire. Someone will undoubtedly get hot and come out of nowhere that I will eventually upgrade to.
I'm all about the unsung hero types. The put up 90/25/95/.290 seasons and no one seems to notice them.

Not a bad team. My draft is still a few weeks away so I can't really comment as I haven't done my homework yet . Good luck Dave. I still stand by my earlier comment I made about Haren though.

I like the unsung heroes thing too, but not in 10 team leagues. 10 team H2H leagues are usually dominated by guys who:

          1. draft big name hitters in the first 8-9 rounds...not starters, closers, or speedy guys (outside of Reyes, possibly Ellsbury)

          2. don't chase closers (you didn't...nice job)

          3. draft high K, high potential starters in the back end...or other highly productive, low name guys...see Cueto, Slowey, Baker, Dempster, etc...

          4. Use the waiver wire to churn starters when you have a bad ratio week (ERA/WHIP) as there will be a ton of good options on the waiver wire to ensure you win K's and W's each and every week

I love your strategy for 16+ owner leagues but in 10 team leagues, there's just too much talent on waivers that are as good or close to as good as many of your starting hitters. Since you can churn starters in H2H, a high potential staff will win K/W each week with a chance to win ERA/WHIP every week. In my opinion, pitching is much too volatile to draft early in such a small league.

Either way, good luck this year!

            Fair enough DF.

As I also mentioned in another post, there is no right or wrong way to play. The key is being active in always seeking out trades and waiver pick-ups. My team will hardly be recognizable 3 months from now

Very true. A very active owner is one that will end up in the playoffs 9 times out of 10.

                Made a few changes...

TRADED Joba Chamberlain for BJ Ryan

BJ's health is always a concern, but then again there are no guarantees on Joba's durability in his first year as a starter, either. This could easily end up being a lopsided trade one way or the other, but I think it was worth the risk for me. With Santana/Webb/Haren/Oswalt/Wainwright, my SP really shouldn't be a problem. Jenks/Perez (probably closer)/Wheeler (not a closer yer)... needed work. I'd rather take the risk-reward in a category I need it.

WAIVED Jorge Posada, Pat Burrell, Dan Wheeler
PICKED UP Kelly Johnson, Jason Kubel, Ubaldo Jimenez

How many teams are in your league Fiasco? There have to be better options on the waiver wire.
