New found appreciation for Canadians

I'll admit, before I found SBR, I didn't really care for Canadians. I'm pretty sure it stems from the Lebeau sisters back when I was discovering puberty.

This Canadian family moved into my neighborhood back when I lived in Bermuda. I'd never seen white girls my age before. I was smitten. Imagine my dismay when they would play stinky finger with all the local brown boys on the island, but not me. Fk Canada, I said.

Then came Celine Dion. I won't even get started.

Now at SBR, I have discovered a small collection of some cool Canadians. Who knew?

Fiveteamer - Possibly the dopiest person I've ever met. And if you know me at all, you know that's a good thing. I'll miss him when he's gone.

Nicky Santoro - OK he's not one of my favorites, but still infinitely cooler than JJ Gold.

Plommer - Random animal facts put him over the top.

Sickler - Sure he scares the crap out of me, but that's OK.

Matty Rain - Probably my favorite out of all my ghosts.

Wild Willy - Doesn't post often, but when he does, he is smashed beyond any recognition of the English language. He makes me feel better about myself.

Alex P. Keaton - I want to get to know him better.

I think he's ABC, American Born Chinese, but you may be correct, perhaps Alberta Born Chinese. All I know is he's a pretty cool dude, not sure his guests at the bash think the same of me.


Canadians have always been ok on my list, some crazy ass folks that I've met over around the Vancouver area and up in Alberta. Plus the Canadian Rockies rank No. 1 on my list of most beautiful places I've visited. I could retire a happy man somewhere around Banff.

Yeah it is definitely gorgeous scenery up by Banff, Willie. When I was a kid, my family would take vacations every summer out that way. I've been to Glacier National Park quite a few times. The Road to the Sun is incredible and it is just as impressive on the Canadian side. Would love to own land up that way some day. If not just for me, for my parents as well...

Willie I know you love the Banff area but have you considered that while you would be welcome there your big ass Texas guns and ammo would not be?

I was offered a job back in the late 90s up in Sylvan Lake which is just a short drive up to Banff area. At the time, the wife wouldn't have anything to do with it because of the cold weather. Really wish I'd been able to take that job now, company makes small little downhole pressure sensors for oilfield applications, and they've blown up in sales. Best thing my buddy ever did was go up there to start the thing so he could sell to anyone and not be restricted in certain countries like he would've been doing it here in the states.

Kamloops is another great spot. But the craziest Canucks I know live over off the coast of Vancouver, Penders Island.

Plom, you've been watching too much TV. Vast majority of Texans don't own any type of firearm. And if I understand the laws in Canada correctly, all I'd have to get rid of or go through a lot of hassle bringing in would be my old .38 revolver. I've got no problem registering the rifles and shotguns.
