Sometimes in college, fans charge the field once the clock hits 0:00. Clearing the field can be a major clusterf*ck. Some refs would go through the hassle, others wouldn't bother. The NCAA decided several years ago that in order to avoid the appearance of impropriety - especially for us degenerate gamblers - they instituted a leaguewide rule that says: If a team scores a touchdown on the final play with 0:00 showing on the clock and if the extra point doesn't matter to the outcome of the game, then it does not get kicked. I made a truckload of money from that rule last year during AK State versus LA-Lafayette. I had a 2nd half line of AK State -3'. LA-Laf had a miracle drive and scored with 0:00 to make the 2nd score score 24-20 (they were losing the game by something like 20 points) and there was no XP.

Yeah, wacked. It was a show on CBS called the NFL Today. Musberger and Jimmy the Greek made betting "public"so to speak. You should read about it or better yet, there was a ESPN 30 for 30 on Jimmy the Greek. I loved watching Brent and the Greek with Phyllis George and Irv Cross. BTW, I was a kid at the time, but it got my betting juices flowing. Anyone under 40 would be interested in it if they didn't know about it. There was no internet,cable, or place to bet. I used to get those football tickets from my grandfather. you pick 4 out of 4 and get 10-1 odds; my introduction to gambling.
