discovery stuff looks good because often they have such vibrant colors and beautiful scenery, whereas sports look good but they're just sports.

been in HD for 3 Football seasons now, including this one
I have to say that CBS SUCKS because they dont broadcast all their NFL games in HD, which is total crap. CBS already sucks hardcore, but to come out and say they will do 'all' games in HD and miss 2-3 games per week is deploreable.

I have the Sunday Ticket for the NFL and Superfan - it's crap when you get a jags game or a browns game that isn't in HD - I don't even bother try watching those games or flipping to them - it looks horrible.

It's also hard to go back FROM hd to anything else. Also, I boycotted watching the NHL after the strike - but watching games on HD Net - WOW. Hockey and football totally benefit from it. I can follow hockey in standard broadcast - but HD was SOOO made for it.

ShamsWoof10, XD-490U is only 1024x768 and as such is unsuitable fo HD.

Scorpion, if you want to get the best picture quality for your money then get Pioneer Kuro PDP-5010FD. Make sure you get it from authorized dealer, see a list of them at pioneer.com.

First, you need to realize that this does not make sense. Your HD recordings are of much higher quality than DVD. However, high quality also means the movie takes much more space. So, you either lose quality and time converting to fit it on DVD or make HD-DVD which in turn is inpractical due to high costs. You need to forget about DVDs altogether, that is just not good enough for HDTV.

HDTV and a big screen TV, no reason to ever go to another game in person.

Take it from someone who has seen Plasma, LCD, and the XD-490.. The projector's picture off of a regular wall is clearer then the other two... Another friend of mine mentioned that without me saying anything about it...

I didn't expect the projector to have that sharp of a picture... When my friends mentioned it out of the blue I figured it wasn't just me...

You must have had a crappy HD feed and/or crappy Plasma. LCD is out of the question, picture-quality-wise it is crap. No LCD can compete with good plasma. However, not that many plasmas support 1080p. Also, if you liked a picture off of a regular wall better then it is really must have been a crappy plasma.

                                Hurray!!! Thanks Cox Cummunications.

Effective 12/13/07 Cox Communications will add TLC HD (ch 722), HGTV HD (ch 723), Food Network HD (ch 724), Discovery HD (ch 727) & CW HD (ch 734) to our HD channel
                                lineup.
I just noticed the lovely new HD Channels today. Oh no, we didn't want anything besides the Food Network or the Home and Garden Channel. Now I can see how to decorate my home and whip up a mean dish for dinner in clear HD.

I need to quit beating around the bush and move to Directv. They have the biggest HD line up so far.

What year will everything be HD? Isn't there some mandate/deadline by the FCC that everything will switch over to HD only?

Because some of the channels are MPEG-4 or some Shit, and that receiver won't receive them.

I think it is 2009. Not sure if that is HD or just to digital.

Yeah I know Directv has them, but just thought they could of added something different. Cox had Discovery HD Theater already, but I am not really not complaining about Discovery Channel HD.

I know they have to accommodate to everyone, but I just thought I would rant on the channels they added. Because they could be tolerated on the regular digital channel.

Make sure they have your local channels beforehand (unless you get your local HD over the air), especially if you're an NFL fan. One problem, IIRC, that DirecTV has is that not all/many markets have their local channels available in HD. Dish Network has a better track record in this area.
