Yeah, but he's still only 25, with a rocket arm.

Maybe he will have the same career as Brett Favre.

Stafford is only 25 and has a very high ceiling. He seemed to have some mechanical issues last season with a lot more throws being off balance and sidearm. This could be due to the fact the O-line was really bad up the middle and he couldn't step up in the pocket and make a firm throw. When he does steps into the throw with a regular throwing motion he's very accurate.

In my opinion any player should have to earn any contract and not pay them on potential or market value of what a QB is going for. His contract reflects the market value of his position. Especially with being so young, the Lions couldn't help but to extend him. I wish they would've gotten the deal done earlier in the off season so they could bring in more help at the positions of need. It was smart of them to extend him but not smart of them to have it done in July. This deal should've been signed and sealed back in April.

Also who is the one who stated Stafford had a knee injury last year? I'm a little confused by that since his last knee injury was in 2009 when the Lions put him on the IR near the end of the season.

As a quarterback, Bobby Layne couldn't hold Matthew Stafford's jock strap. In his 9 seasons with the Lions, Layne threw more INT's than TD's in 7 of those 9 seasons. In today's era of football Layne would be lucky to be on a practice squad. His ball was horrendous, very similar to a ball thrown by Tebow.

Yeah, because books are always spot on to start the year in NBA and NFL

They have no clue what's gonna happen. Books base their lines off mathematical models. There is no data at this point to get a "read" on what books "think" is going to happen. That's why lines to start the year are softest. And then books adjust. You've been here since 2007. Wise up.
