The Sabathia signing was fine, based on his past three years he will live up to the majority of the contract, and probably outperform it for the first few years. The Burnett signing was good because it was a calculated risk. Burnett's injury history has more to do with his mindset, and not his actual injuries, most are arm soreness/fatigue type of problems, he has only had one real arm injury. Both of these players are in the prime of their careers.

Lowe is not as good of a pitcher as either of them, but he is consistant, and is a good third starter. The difference between Lowe and Burnett is that Burnett has a chance to put up great numbers, Lowe does not. Burnett pitching 150 great innings is just as valuable as Lowe pitching 200 good innings.

I love Lowe. Was the winning pitcher in all 3 playoff series clinching games for Red Sox in 2004.

His only concern over the years has been his mental toughness, and maybe too much booze.

Hadnt heard that Braves had been trying to trade bLowe for the past 2 months.

They were obviously not pleased by his 8-7 5.59 ERA in his final 21 starts. But no team would take his overpriced contract, even when the Braves offered to pick up some of the money.

                  Where's ryanxl to defend him?

4 hitless innings today.... says he has new mechanics after this off-season...

Maybe he'll only give up 220 hits this year

6 K's and the other 6 outs were all ground balls too. I know it's just ST, but this shit gets me excited for the real deal.

Lowe will get it figured out, this isn't his first go around. The offenses in the NL east are a lot better than in the west, and he'll adjust this upcoming season
