Haha this is a good post. Thinking about myself though, I am not an alcoholic although I do drink, but mostly with chicks. I don't use drugs although I am "when in Rome" about them so once in a while it happens. I have never been to a whoore and never will be, that's nasty yo.

I did used to lie a bit, felt bad about it, lied to a girl I loved, lost her, felt awful, almost never lie anymore, been that way for years now. I don't scam or cheat or steal, BUT, a few weeks ago I was at a store, paid for something with a $100 bill. The guy gave me my stuff, my change - and a $100 bill back. I glanced down to make sure I got my correct change, saw the $100 bill, and put it all in my pocket, as though it were just correct change. I felt bad about it, thought about going back and giving the guy the $100 back, but for various reasons, I didn't. I'm still not saying I didn't do something wrong there, but I also don't feel too terrible about it, although it does nick at me a little bit.

But all in all, I for one, don't fit your description.

no nicky, i dont hate you or anything, but i had a gut feeling theyd lose that night and didnt put as much down. i remember u at the beginning of hockey season saying to bet habs every game. i really should have, but its just not my style... if that makes any sense. i've had that kind of luck a lot lately with hockey. im 0-6. and i'm on red wings tonight, they won 7 straight, and i'm sure they will lose this one, then go on to win 10 in a row.

How do I "pretend to be above it all"?

We have a varying degree of gamblers here, from the ultra-compulsive to the recreational. To some this is a drug, to some this is a hobby. Just because I'm closer to the hobby side of the pendulum does not mean I'm "above" anything. I don't think I've ever talked down to anyone here despite being talked down to regularly.

I meant what I said in this thread. For some of us, gambling/sports is just a fun thing to do on the side. For others, it is our entire lives. But I personally don't think that people that don't gamble or don't like sports are any BETTER than any of us. There are plenty of failures in the world, and there are also plenty of people that conform to what society tells them to be and they go through the motions and live dull and boring lives on their short time here on Earth.

I for one am happy to associate with you guys, and to be your friends and/or acquaintances. I don't need society to tell me who is a loser or what we "should" be. Like anywhere else, SBR has its share of great guys and its share of terrible guys; but the solid/good guys here match up to any in the corporate "respectable" world in my eyes.
