It's not over-analyzing it's looking at stats that actually tell the story...I really am astonished that people still use YPG stats when capping... I'm trying to steer you guys away from stats that are going to MISLEAD and LIE to you. Never in this thread have I even said who I'm on in this game, I was simply trying to correct an extremely common misconception about this game.

I enjoy your opinions and I definitely respect your opinions over this NFL season. Stats don't lie and you've certainly provided some compelling stats.

Here's a stat that might be a fun reminder: the 2006 Colts were ranked 32nd in the league for rushing defense in the regular season but they went on to win the Super Bowl. I'm a Colts fan, so I remember these little stats.

My point is that the playoffs is a different animal than the regular season. You can throw out a lot of the regular season stats. 12-4 versus 8-8 is totally meaningless now. Both teams are 0-0. Sure, the Chargers flopped around a little bit early in the regular season, but so did Indy at the very beginning. Now the Chargers are riding a 4 game win streak and Indy is riding a 9 game streak. Seriously, this should be one hell of a game. But the Chargers remind me of a wounded animal, they'll come out fighting. Not to mention, they still have the team that was a top favorite to go far in the playoffs this year. Finally, the Chargers are at home in a playoff game, which might be the energy they need to carry the momentum from the Denver game.

I agree that stats can be skewed to show only what one wants people to see. I don't think VegasDave is trying to lie, he's just trying to make a case for his pick. But, yes, definitely take ALL stats with a grain of salt. Maybe I'm too used to seeing stats thrown around on here and mostly ignoring them.

For the record, I'm not playing this game, so I hope my opinion comes across as unbiased. I concede that my bias as a Colts fan is impossible to ignore. Bottom line for this game is that if one thinks Marvin, Bob Sanders, Dwight Freeney, Dallas Clark, etc are all 100% healthy, then go with the Colts, but those are some big "ifs". Remember last year when Dungy was declaring Marvin as healthy and Marvin played like he had a ruptured spleen, sitting on the sideline for most of the game. I'm just saying. This game is going to be a bitch from my perspective as a Colts fan. We've NEVER handled the Chargers easily.

If you can tease the Chargers to +7, that might be the smartest angle I see on this game. I see this game as back & forth with the last team to score winning the game.

First off, Chargers won there last 4 games, but if you look at who they beat:

Oakland (one of the worst teams in football)
KC (another one of the worst teams in football)
Tampa Bay (who totally self destructed the final games)
Denver (a total pretender)

they beat 3 teams out of the second worst conference in football and you say they are on fire?

San Diego 2 best players Tomlinson and Gates both injured and even if they play won't be even close to 100%. San Diego's defense isn't all of a sudden good, they played a bunch of teams that have no offense so it made them look good.

Indy hasn't lost since Oct 27 and if anyone is on fire it is Payton Manning. The guy is tearing it up throwing a boat load of touchdowns with only a couple picks. I really dont see there being a chance for Chargers to win this game. I can't even believe they get a home game with how pathetic that division is. 8-8, what a joke!

What the NFL should have done is match Chargers vs Cardinals and call it the toilet bowl, I am almost positive Charmin would be more than happy to sponsor the game. Two teams that have no business even being in the playoffs to begin with. If they were in any other division, both teams would have been eliminated from playoff contension about 4 weeks ago.

I ended up taking the chargers too when I saw pinny had Colts at 1.5 and everyone else had SD at 2.5 or 3. It told me to take the Chargers which is cool because I had Indy as the last team in a 3 team 10 pt teaser and I hit both.
