I think this would have WAY more impact if it was a current player who has a CONTRACT into next year. Collins was a stiff, and is a free agent & at the end of the line. I am not saying he shouldn't have said anything, I think it should be a player who is under contract coming out for this to have any impact.

If him coming out in public makes a positive difference for others struggling with the same situation he has done a great thing. Could care less if someone is gay or not. I am comfortable in my own skin. Nice to see his colleagues showing support through social media. I'm sure they will crack jokes in private but seeing the respect and encouragement he is receiving from teammates, coaches and peers shows how little players care about sexual orientation.
