Dave, I have a different theory regarding RLM. I thought that bookies are attempting to achieve balanced action by manipulating the line and price. The reason RLM occurs is even though 90% of the action is on (lets use your example) the Jets. The sharps are pounding the Niners, and putting more money on the Niner's side. The example of having 100 bettors: 90 of them (squares) place $100 bets and 10 of them (sharps) place $1,000, thus more money on the side of the sharps.

I think we are reaching the same conclusion, but that has always been my logical explanation for the phenomenon of RLM.
