#2908Awesome write up Jay! I like all your YouTube videos on your page. You got a variety of stuff there. Watching your dogs chase each other around a pool. Playing tennis in the street. Got your daughters high school graduation. Your daughter dance recital. And for those that haven't seen Jay's other videos on his YouTube his daughter is a tall thin blonde!
You seem like a good dude Jay. If you broke even on your trip then it's almost like a free trip to Vegas. A free trip of doing what you enjoy doing for 9 days at no cost.
My only advice would be to give up smoking. It's a real expensive habit. I don't think money management is something that any gambler is born with. It has to be learned over time and every chase loss or careless dgaf loss you can learn from. Successful Gambling takes an incredible amount of patience and discipline, which ironically are in direct contrast to the immediate rush or high that players get.
I'm glad you watched that because I wanted a chance to tell this story. Weeks before her grad I made her & her mother aware that I was not going to attend. The NBA draft was that day & everyone knows how hot & long & boring those ceremonies are. Of course the day finally arrived & I was not happy, to say the least but of course I was going to attend.
You'd think that some of the greatest days of my life have been spent in Vegas but, that day was without a doubt, the greatest day of my life.
She graduated with honors as an Ontario scholar & won an academic award & receive a bursary cheque for maintaining the highest mark in her favourite course, interior design. They just kept calling her name over & over again to walk to the stage to collect another award or another cheque! There's a picture of her carrying all this hardware & cash out of the gym & everytime I see it I nearly cry like I did that day.
I swear to God I have never been been more proud in my entire life.
Everyone thinks their kids are special
They all think they have the best
kids on Earth
I have always thought this about her but now I know I'm right!
No one says this better than my favourite comedian who I was at Bally's in 1997
Thanks for the kind words Plazoo.
You are a true example of a poster that over the years has truly won over my heart.Comment -

Also there was a really good looking blonde teacher or administrator handing out diplomas. Looks like you picked a good school for her to attend.
It's good that you went to her graduation ceremony. I can't imagine the trouble you would have been in if you didn't go. You can always DVR the draft lol..do you have that close of relationship with her or does she only listen to her mom?
Yeah at first I thought you were kind of selfish for taking your trips but I saw how you interacted with the underpass dwellers and it doesn't seem like you chase tail in Vegas when lot of guys would even if they were married. So you are a good person and being a good person is more important than making perfect decisions. Keep up the entertaining videos.Comment -

#2913Funny story, the guy who was emceeing earlier (the assistant Principal) looked exactly like Silver.
Thin, shaved head, glasses, the whole deal.
So this particular time he approaches the podium & says, "With the 1st selection in the 2015 NBA Draft...."
I laughed out loud, really loud & everyone, I mean everyone, looked at me.
No one got it except this Adam Silver look alike asst. VP & me.
There was not a single NBA fan in that Gym.
My wife said it was pretty embarrassing but I thought it was joke of the year.Comment -

#2916I know the general rule here is, "No pictures, Never happened." But sometimes, when meeting SBR posters the rule is "No Pictures".
But you can trust me on this: All these people are real. The stories may not be but, they are told verbatim... as I heard them.
Craig - Monte Carlo Sportsbook
When I was having phone issues, (which still makes me angry to think about) a guy named Craig helped me out by lending me his charger. While I let my phone sit & charge in one of those free charging stations, I talked with him in the Monte Carlo sports book. We talked about Trump, good comps in town, the economy, but mostly sports betting.
He like the Giant early that day & we hit it! I'll never see that guy again but, he seemed really nice.
Michael - WildWildWest
Michael had new stories each better than the previous. This time he showed me pictures of all the old cars he custom builds. He would tell the story so much better than I will, with specs & model & year but, I'm just tell it like a guy who knows very little about cars. He was driving down Las Vegas Blvd in the 70's in a Caddy that he or a buddy had re built. They pulled to a red light beside a car that they could had been all souped up. The guy rolled down his window & Michael is in the passenger seat & says to the guy in the car next him, " is that 19..blah blah with 4. Blah blah blah blah?"
Robert Goulet responded, "Yes, it is." & they rolled down the Strip together.
One day I will get the details about his infamous fallout with Binions.
This story includes all the characters, from Vegas wiseguys to Jack & yes even to Benny himself. Instead of dealing at the Wild Wild West he should have been in on the Binions buy out & have millions now.
Also a real gambler. I always t0ke bet instead of direct tipping but, in special cases ( good story, big win) I direct tip.
He won't take my tips directly. He always wants to bet them.
Still to this day.....My favourite dealer in the entire city
Hands down.
Al - ** Poker Room
http://s218.photobucket.com/user/jay...g.html?filters[user]=55243717&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=44
What else can I say about Al that I ha sent already said? At least Coop was able to play with him again, while I was busy winning the daily!
Coop had played with Al & I before but yesterday I talked to Coop on the phone & he said he couldn't believe how solid Al played. Said that he raley list pots the went to the river & when he did lose a hand, he list the least amount possible, every time.
When u cashed in the daily I had my bag upstairs with Al's book in it. I ran up grabbed the book & I leaned over Al's shoulder and asked him if he had time to sign it. He asked me how I did & I told him I chopped with chip leader.
He made note of that while he was autographing the book.
He handed it back to me & I told him to go easy on seat 4. Coop was already pretty drunk & didn't think it was very funny at the time. You should have seen everyone at the table looking up & they were all taking to each other trying to figure out who he was. He was a small c celebrity! I thanked Al for signing the book & wished everyone good luck & as I walked away laughing & said, "you're gonna fukkin need it!"
Richard - plane
Casinohostsonline.com
I thought this was typical guy digging into his wallet to give a business card that I'll never look at or use again. Just go to the site & check it out & won't need to tell you the stories this guy had on the 4 hour flight back.
He really was the most interesting man in Canada.
Jay - Excalibur Sportsbook
This kid was something else! He's in his thirties & he's a shorter sticky kid who used to catch back in college. He quiet until he tells you a story & he gets excited & animated but there's no doubt, you don't fukk with this kid. He liked me but he told a story about why he watches in strip sportsbooks.
He doesn't out up with mouthy people so he beta at strip books because he doesn't usually have to see the same people everyday. I thought it made complete sense. He said downtown, if you get I to it with someone down there, he had to see him every night after that. He talked about his business a little (which I will not disclose here.). But in case I thought he was full of $hit, he pulled out the biggest role I had seen all trip.
Had to be close to $12,000.00.
This kid was serious about what he was doing in Vegas. I really hope I get to see him again sometime.
Joni - Excalibur Sportsbook
I'm not really gonna say much about her, she knows who she is. & she is definitely one of my favorites.
Markhan - Wild Wild West
He deals in the pits with Michael.
Really gets people excited at the tables. A class act!
Dave -ADA Tenn
Dave seemed to be the only one who who I played poker with that really loved the game. He was Assist District Attorney somewhere in Tennessee.
We watched the Arieiererita NONO together & he was just any easy going nice guy who was having a good time drinking. At pace with Jayvegas, which was impressive. He was staying at the Luxor & left at midnight, I wished him luck & he went to bed. It was his 1st day there. We never really got tied up in a hand together, wasn't like we were playing together but, we weren't really playing against each other.
Sleepy Sam
I saw this coming so I turned on the camera. The call was on Al when the happened, so I siad, "C'mon Al, wake up!"
Some people thought that was funny
Dancing Queen
Had to record this chic.
Went back to the poker room played for another 45 mins & she was still there!
They say the greatest form of flattery is imitation.
I'd like to think that when 3 guys make a conscious decision to take time out of their day specifically to come play poker with Jayvegas.
That to me is the most sincere form of flattery.
What do you say about guys like JoeKing99
jakepeavy21
One Under
Well let me try.
JoeKing was worried that his English wasn't good enough. I told him that besides ciao all I knew in Italian was Stu Gotz & "sono briaco".
His English was virtually perfect & he left little doubt that he's a competent professor at UNLV. He seemed like a very Intelligent guy. He finished ITM that day. Great poker player & great guy.
Jake peavy looked like a poker player & played like a real poker player.
The sunglasses, the way he could change his expression & demeanour instantly. Jakepeavy21 is a fukkin shark.
We talked briefly about jobs & professions, none if which I will disclose here but JakePeavy is definitely in the wrong line of work!
If it weren't for a bad beat with 5 players left, there is no doubt Jake would have proceeded to completely dismantle the remaining players.
I mentioned in the thread that if a donkey like me can beat some of these games, there's no reason a regular online Joe can't do the same. Jake would make a lucrative living playing everyday & I would stake my life on it.
I will certainly be watching my phone closely next time I am there, hoping to get a text from Jaker.
Similar to the arrangement I have with LVHerbie, I assured One Under that I would not disclose details about our conversations or certain things we did.
There was no weird Bottom Dad stuff going on, I'm taking trade secrets.
The stuff I like to call, "What really happens in Vegas".
Truly invaluable information.
They type of stuff you can only learn from a real life Kinish-type Vegas professional.
The best thing about talking with him for hours & playing with him for hours, was that he never made me feel like he was bragging or talking down to me. Everything he said was very calculated & always seemed like it was being said to help me. To help me learn. To hell me improve as a player & as a person.
He had no reason to try & impress me & yet with every story he told & every piece if advice he gave me, I couldn't help but to be more & more impressed.
He treated me to the single greatest cut of meat I have ever eaten in my life.
The Prime Rib Eye at Tuscany.
I didn't take a picture if it because only people who actually go there to taste it, should be lucky enough to see this fukkin dish.
This was a really fancy looking joint. I felt ouuta place & "we were the only ones in the restaurant", that's how fancy it was. Didn't help that i was wearing a jersey with my cap on backwards.
Here's a story I am sure One Under will not mind me telling.
He was leaving a casino that had some wirdly built glass doors & at the same time Wilt Chamberlain was walking in. He actually got to talk to & shake hands with The Stilt!
I later learned that Wilt was One Under's favourite athlete, even before that day.
He spotted Tiger at another casino & shook hands with Mr. Wood's!
There is not much more to be said about a man like this. He is simply the most solid character I have ever met & I feel like I learned more in 3 days with him, than most people learn in an entire gambling career.
The people I met on this trip, even the unmentioned ones are what this in incredible learning experience.Comment -

#2921Thanks for the kind words, JayWhat a nice way to wake up this morning!
When I first saw your opening line in this thread... "Can anyone last for 6 months in Vegas on $2700?"... I thought "Man, could I tell this guy some stories".
Well, a lot of stories got told, and if one of them helps you make a good decision, then I'm truly glad.
You mentioned in this thread that you are targeting March Madness 2016 for your return. See you in 6 months.
Best of luck in all you do.
