    New link policy
For viewers located in the US you will notice later today that SBR will not have hyperlinks to sportsbooks that accept US players. We will still list the same sportsbooks but will not make their name a link. This policy is consistent with how MSN, Yahoo! and other internet bellwethers advertise for the group.

The change will allow SBR to close advertising deals within Nevada and hopefully other regulated and soon to be regulated areas in the US. Now all we need to do is convince the Vegas suits that there is nothing offensive about the name of our yearly football contest although it may well be renamed this year.

If it can open up new advertisers for here I am for it. I sure see it someday where it would be possible for us to bet over the internet in Vegas. A question for you John is if it happens which I have been hearing from some here that it is a possibility they could push for gaming online and sports wagering is how is this going to be handled? I am pretty sure in the future you don't know yet but I do think that there might be some huge changes on how this site could be done. I would not be shocked if SBR has plans to have a site for the US and the site for anywhere else soon.

It sounds like an inspirational contest full with plenty of 5-0 weeks where players don't win any freebies. SBR make it happen; Rudy I expect a small royalty for my shameless plugging of your great idea.

Almost makes you wonder if posting links to sites that rip off Americans might be considered a federal offense or something.

For SBR to ignore the money they get by referring people, there's gotta be something big coming down the pike. But why have they kept it secret?

SBRJohn, does this mean US players will soon be able to bet sports online legally?

                                                            Here's another possibility:

Offshore books no longer need SBR. At one point, when the Greek and others were still operating with U.S. players, paying ad dollars to SBR made sense. When many of these reputable books closed shop to U.S. players, the remaining few realized that they were going to have plenty of clientele regardless of SBR's role. I think we have all noticed that SBR's influence over books has started to slide. I think it's because of this development.

If sportsbetting were to go legal, SBR might find that they're in a different game. These casinos are the big boys and while they might throw some ad dollars to SBR, they are going to be spending more money advertising in stadiums, on television, in magazines, etc. Could get ugly for SBR>

They already can if they live in Nevada. It will continue to be state by state for the next several generations. Progress comes slow.

SBR is going to be a player in the online advertising in Nevada and New Jersey, even if the latter does not succeed in its current court challenge. We would also like to compete, buy or sell space or joint venture with Yahoo, SI and MSN on odds as well as be granted live feeds for all the Vegas properties.

SBR lost what would of been our largest advertising deal ever with SI.com back in August. No one likes being told to change your website or we won't do business with you. But the reality is we need to get out in front of this and get better quality deals.
