I wouldn't bet against Struve, Fitter. Kid is starting to come into his own. I was really impressed in how he picked apart Miocic and fought an incredibly smart fight. Gassed Miocic out, then finished him. He's not just sticking his chin out and getting KO'd like he did in his first few UFC fights. Hunt's best days are behind him. 6 of Hunt's 7 losses have come by sub. Struve uses his lanky arms and leg very well against weak BJJ fighters. New blood vs. old dinosaur. I know literally nothing about that guy. If you're going to bet the Struve fight and use props to hedge, I'd take Struve by sub, Struve ITD, Hunt by KO/TKO, Hunt ITD. Hunt is not winning a decision. His only avenue to victory is KO/TKO. I like Struve -175 a lot. For dogs, I still think Lombard is over hyped and Okami can turn it into an ugly grinding fight that neutralizes Lombard's power. Not today, but no damage done either. Tonight's small card was more about avoiding the bad lines/bets. I did like Anaheim TT over 2.5 goals but it was -145 a little too juicy. Blue Jackets +1.5 becomes an auto bet at evens or better, but I saw it bouncing between -115 and -130. update: What I learned from UFC.Fuel#9... This is getting to be the norm lately in MMA...long-shot "puncher's chance" killing all the chalk-eaters (Bigfoot>Overeem, Newton>Mo, Lawler>Koscheck...and just tonyt: Hunt>Struve & Wanderlai>Stann)...luckily my lottery ticket on Hunt got me a push...and my spidey-sense kept me out of the main event...cuz it was more an "exbibition" than a real competition.
Moral of the story...never bak a chalky big fave, without a "just in case" ticket should the unlikely happen...which it will from tym to tym (and given Murphy's Law...usually the worst tym),,,the price of such a "disaster insurance" hedge-bet must be factored into your strategy...making chalky favorites even less appealing...Here, Struve was the right bet...luckily so was my experiment (from now on a babit) in hedging large peices of chalk,
In contrast, bakking undervalued live-dogs is so much easier...cheaper-per-unit-targeted...so you can swing without a net...my bet on SiyarB that was. seekiing the same #units was a fraction of the Struve-bet's size, for example.Comment -

Nino, I wasn't bitching at all...I was in on Struve all by myself...my point was to win a unit u have to risk so much more on the big favorites than you do on the small-faves and dogs. Watching that manlet pummel-video the other day activated my spidey-sense that Hunt could screw up my night. The hedge
turned on for the first tym...and it worked out as a "pleasant lesson", turning the surprise loss/disaster into a surprise-loss/push.
So from now on it's mostly dogs and small-faves for me. When the occasional big-fave bet has legitiamate value (Texeira over Page, and Macida over Hendo, and Struve last night all come to mind)...fly with 'em...but pay the relatively-inexpensive "upset insurance" tax to prevent losing an inordinate amount of capital.
