I wouldn't bank on that. Serena will want to get this over ASAP with Azarenka likely on deck. Smart players conserve as much energy as possible for these money rounds. The cream of the crop are the ones who don't worry about the scoreline against friends, it's why they win titles and others do not.

This match is a little difficult to read for me. If Sloane plays like she did in the last two sets of the Jovanovski match, she will get crushed. She was tentative and looked every bit the part of a young player showing nerves. Whether she admits it or not, they will be there big tonight in this setting - hard not to be when you're in your first Slam QF.

I love Sloane and think her and Raonic will be the king and queen of tennis in 10yrs time ... but if anyone has watched Serena play her singles matches, especially the one against Kiri who is much more experienced than Sloane, then this wouldn't even be a discussion. She might win a few games, and maybe even a set (which I highly doubt). But she is not winning this match. Only one person has a hope of beating Serena... maybe... and it ain't Sloane Stephens.

I respectfully disagree with you on Raonic. Raonic doesnt have the athleticism to be the next king. I think it'll be hard pressed to find him even in the top#4. In today's game , its a must that you have speed to get within the top 4. Speed and athleticism is something you cant learn. Unfortunately for Raonic, his body build/physique will always have that limitation.

Have been burning money so far this tourney backing Serena's opponents at the + or taking the over. She has been damn efficient. That said i've saddled up again today taking the over 17 games. This means Sloane needs to need win 5 games for a push or 6 for the win. I think she can do it.

I am a big Stepens fan, I think she is top 5 talent-wise on the Women's tour BUT she doesn't have the mental aspect of the game down yet at all. She beats most opponents easily the first set by being aggressive and then she starts playing not to lose and becomes far less aggressive. Even with Serena tweaking her ankle again last night I can't see Stephens beating her or even being very close today.

with the spreads and totals on Serena's matches, one doesn't even have to be close to beating her.
