Seeing the odds on 5dimes and Vegas odds maybe the lakers do squeeze by and make the playoffs? But only each game will tell.

I would say it is a coin flip right now. -110 each way sounds right......+800 either way would be a steal.

Schedule looks easier, only really 4 games back in the loss column.

I'll have to think about this.

Fine. I already have the 1000 pts and have no plans of using them for a little while. When I win this bet I'll be able to get a $140 bookmaker GC

To me it's more a question of having my money locked up for 3 months. I'm fairly confident it will happen (obviously not 100% but still)...

Something else to consider here is the teams above them.

Portland isn't making the playoffs, they're not deep enough.
Minnesota is done with all the injuries.
I don't like Houston to make it at all.

That leaves 3 spots for 4 teams: Golden State, Dallas, Utah, and LAL. (supposing OKC, San An, LAC, Denver and Memphis are a lock). If LAL are the one that misses out, then so be it. I'd actually hate to be in a position where it's LAL or DAL considering I'm a Mavs fan.

How can it be a coin flip? Look at the teams involved. Looks to me like it will take 45-47 wins to get it in. So they need to close probably at least 28-13. That's 68.9% winning which at the moment would be the second best record in the NBA. Lakers are suddenly going to make themselves into one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the NBA? Not happening. They might improve. Maybe they can 23-18 or 24-17, but I don't see them getting 28 or 29 more wins. Maybe a 20% chance, if that.

I love people pointing to the teams in front of them and saying 'they only need to do this'.

Hou is the 8 seed now. Theyre 22-21. If they go 19-19 the rest of the way and they stay on the 8 seed lakers have to go 24-17 just to tie them. So HOu can play .500 ball Lakers have to play .585 ball just to tie them. Not sure where tie breakers are. Hou is also 3-7 their last 10. Are they getting worse or just in a bad stretch? So then you look at Portland the 9 seed. Portland is 20-21 and 4-6 their last 10. Lakers still have to win 3 games more than Portland the rest of the way just to tie them, and if Portland passes Houston then lakers have to pick up that many games as well.

A few teams are in mid season slumps and have a couple injuries. lakers are in a season long slump and they have a lot of road games coming up. Their next 10 games they will be lucky to not lose more ground. 5-5 would be a frigging miracle in that stretch.

                                  @ Charlotte should win

When you look at 10 games and only see one SINGLE game where you can say that is a 'sure' win (at home to New Orleans) you know a team has problems. You can make a case for 3 or 4 more that they should win but can you trust them to? 4-6 would be good in that stretch actually the way they have played lately. 6-4 would be an out right miracle. But they have to go 6-4 four times just to finish one game above 500.

So look at the next 10 games and REALISTICALLY see if they can go 6-4 those 10 games. I dont think they can realistically go 6-4 these first ten, but for die hard people who are completely deluded. Then if you can somehow find a case to have them 12-8 after these next 20, look at the 10 games after that.

Lakers have less than a 10% chance to make the Play offs and that is if and only if teams back up into them and make it a simple 500 record with Lakers having any tie breakers. If lakers need 45 wins I would put them at less than a 1% chance to make the play offs right now.

First he told me $50 and I was like nah I don't wanna take money from u bro save your money then I said if u really want ill do it for a Hundo haha.

Yes is up to +160 considering a large bet on this as well. Will probably place it after the OKC game and hope that they go 1-2 the next 3 games so I can get even better odds.

no way. Mavs played half the season without Dirk, they will make the play offs before the lakers will. I suspect them to try and make a couple moves. Just not a lot out there though too many teams like what they have. That is bad for lakers actually. But I suspect they get some sort of deal done with Nets and a third team to get rid of Howard.

To get to 1 game above 500 which would be a miracle if it was enough to be an 8 seed, Lakers have to go 25-16 the rest of the way. That finishes them at 42-40. Like I said they have to go 6-4 each 10 game stretch to set it up then they have to win the last game of the season which ironically is at home to Houston.

I see a total set up where that game involves the tie breaker and the winner take all for the 8 seed. Thats just how the NBA does it. I am sure they will do their best to set it up.

But in reality I suspect lakers to be 34-47 by then and that game either gets them to 35-47 or 34-48.

Lakers aren ot a good team, they have a bad coach, they have a horrible bench, and they have a horrible orgnization right now.

I was thinking about it yesterday. What do they care? The Buss family has more actually money than they have ever had. They signed that TV deal which is guaranteed. So why do they need to be good? before the lakers were the ONLY revenue that family had. Without them Buss family didnt have shit. Now that Jimmy is running it he might pull a Sterling and just put out a team that he thinks people will watch and he can make money from.

I seriously cant think how he thought this team was going to succeed. He signed a couple big names, and got one sort of cheap I guess with nash. And Howard could be let go at the end of the year and the claim of 'he wanted too much money' could be an easy excuse. Just like why Phil wasnt hired. Although I dont think Phil wanted the job anyway.

So really it wouldnt surprise me if the lakers flipped and became the Clippers going forward. Buss already got paid with that TV deal so what do they care about the product now? Give Kobe a 'retirement' deal and people will still pay to see him for the next 4 years or so and keep having these shitty teams. Collect the TV deal money and make more money than that family has ever seen.

Not many teams can lose their top three centers (two All-Star caliber) and still perform to the level the Lakers will need to in order to make the playoffs.
