Uncle Richie hit the nail on the head. The actual karma at play in this scenario is the Western Hegemony (America and the United Kingdom) reaping what it has sown in the Middle East and Asia for almost a century now.

I think all Americans and Britons should be free to travel, but they have to assume the risks for that travel as well. There's a tremendous amount of anti-Western sentiment in these areas, and going someplace where you're not popular and stand out like a sore thumb isn't very wise. If your job sends you to that area, the answer is to get another job.

Who do you think goes there to make the deals? If americans didn't go to other countries to look for business the US will be in a constant recession and the unemployment rate would hit 20%.

India likes to clamp down on student visas -- the US also likes to restrict visas in areas with known terrorist activity -- until recently, Nepal was offlimits (Maoist revolution) and Pakistan is still offlimits (Al Q hangin out up there).
