Famous wrestling matches list - so many missing here
Got this from Dave Meltzer's site today. I don't know who voted on this, but I can think of quite a few missing matches here. Thoughts?

Rock-Cena and Rock-Austin don't even belong on the list. Flair-Von Erich at the time was pretty huge, but I can't see it being top 10 ever.

    I'd add these for starters:
    Flair-Steamboat from the Superdome
    Steamboat-Savage from WM III
    Hogan-Warrior from WM 6
    Flair-Funk 'I Quit' match
    Michaels-Hart Ironman match

WHAT WAS THE MOST FAMOUS MATCH IN WRESTLING HISTORY?
Hogan vs. Andre WrestleMania III 56.0%
Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels Montreal 24.7%
Antonio Inoki vs. Muhammad Ali Tokyo 4.9%
Frank Gotch vs. George Hackenschmidt II 3.6%
The Rock vs. John Cena 2.1%
The Rock vs. Steve Austin WM 17 1.8%
Pat O'Connor vs. Buddy Rogers Chicago 1.6%
Funks vs. Bruiser Brody & Jimmy Snuka 1982 tag tourney final 1.6%
Fred Blassie vs. John Tolos Los Angeles Coliseum 1.3%
Ric Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich Texas Stadium 1.0%
Rikidozan & Masahiko Kimura vs. Sharpe Brothers 0.8%
Keiji Muto vs. Nobuhiko Takada Tokyo Dome 0.5%

If you're just talking well known matches I'd add:

      Hogan-Rock WM 18
Mankind-Undertaker KOTR 1998 (Mankind gets thrown off the top of the cage onto the announcer's desk, THEN gets chokeslammed through the cage)
Hogan turns on WCW and joins nWo Bash at the Beach 1996

Absolutely at least belongs in the top 5, greenhippo! The buildup to the match and how well it was worked made it one of the very best ever. I can understand Hogan-Andre being thought of as more 'famous' but Savage-Steamboat stole the show.

Have to also agree with the Undertaker-Mankind HITC match. The bumps Foley took alone make it rank way up there.

Definitely is in my list, Cuse. 60 minutes and an overtime - very hard to top that these days.

Looks like its "Famous" matches not the best of all time. If so Hart/Michaels WM12 was way better than the Montreal one. But obviously that clash had more historic significance. I mean lets be honest in terms of match quality Hogan/Andre was terrible.

Yeah - the Montreal screwjob gained attention from even non-wrestling fans. And Hogan-Andre's hype at the time was huge, especially with how Andre turned bad to set it all up.

Yeah, I was young and had to beg to stay up to keep watching on our stolen PPV. HBK was my favorite.

Exactly in terms of hype and the moment that happened when Hogan was staring down the mighty Andre in front of a packed Sliver-dome That alone makes it the No. 1 most famous match. I still get chills watching that. But they won't be showing that match at a wrestling school. My father thinks wrestling is stupid he could tell you that Hogan "fought" Andre once.

if we're gonna include good quality matches, my list would be a bit different.

HHH was the ultimate worker and has everyone's respect in the industry. he never refused to put anyone over and did it with absolute precision. beast of a champion and top 3 toughest guys around. Flair great worker and a legend too, but not quite on HHH's level.

michaels, hart, macho, curt hennig, rick rude, foley.. all legendary workers too.

Good choice for number one Since Hogan was the first person ever to body slam Andre the giant, Plus all the events leading up to the feud with all the legends involved,Bobby Heenan, Rodney Piper heck even Jesse the Body Ventura was doing the commentary on the match.

This video shows all the events that lead up to the match with all the legends involved

The biggest main event in sports entertainment history, WWF Champion Hulk Hogan defends his Championship against the "8th Wonder of the World" Andre the Giant, in front of 93,173 fans at the Pontiac Silverdome, Michigan. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan was in Andre the Giant's corner as he came to the ring. The fans booed Andre heavily, yet Hogan came to the ring to a huge ovation. During the match, Hogan attempted to bodyslam Andre, but he was unable to lift the Giant and nearly lost the match when Andre fell on him and nearly pinned him. Hogan finally managed to body slam the 520lb Giant and hit a leg drop to get the win and retain the WWF championship.

my favorite match of all time was wcw scott steiner vs goldberg
