#108This is going to go down as one of the worst beats I have ever had. Illinois up 40 + I have -13.5 for Illinois, and USC is going to cover.Comment -

#109agreed that it's a bit of semantics. the bold isn't necessarily correct though.. i.e. reducing risk of an initial bet is not the only reason to play for (or definition of) a middle, but it does capture the mindset of most gamblers.
i.e. playing 'sc 2H for most would be like, in their minds, splitting tens in blackjack. why 'split a winner' most would say?
well, there are many out there that would answer... 'because the dealer is showing a 6'.
illinois can lose by 2 and win by all the way up to 25 pts for you to win both bets - that's a 27 point range. there's enough people out there that would play that range not because they're worried about taking the risk out of their first bet, but because they believe the second wager carries a smaller risk than their first one. just two different mindsets in approach is all. glComment -

#111They really need to change the required # of fouls to get teams in the penalty for college ball. Every 2H of every game has both teams in the penalty around the 8 or 9 min markComment -

#113Yep, at least in the NBA the shorter shot clock forces players to have to win games late w/ clutch shots. In college game are won by milking the 35 sec shot clock and shooting an endless amount of free throws on ticky tack foul calls.Comment -

#118pretty ridiculous for Illinois, running it up like crazy. Dunking, pushing the pace, shooting threes, etc.
A lot of teams would work the clock up 30 and the under would hit.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

#125Is this common in college hoops? It's like kicking a guy on the ground. When SC made their run and was down 20 with like 4 minutes left, I can understand running typical offense. But wtf is shooting threes with 2 min left up by 22?Comment -

#129Lol, just venting. Fuk, I shouldn't have made a play on something I know little about. Thought it was in the bag when SC cut it to 20 with like 3 min left. I didn't think Illinois would jack up threes. I expected them to wind down the shot clock. And they went on fast breaks. Why not pull back and work the clock? What more is there to prove? Shit like that doesn't happen in the NBA.Comment -

#133some coaches like to run up the score. It's a scummy thing to do, but I guess they want style points, like Bill Belichick or Bret Bielema
Obviously Groce likes to run up the score. Illinois was running it up like crazy in the final minutes instead of being normal and dribbling out the clock.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

#136The coach dictates how it gets played out. If he tells the players not to run and dunk, they don't if they want to play.
You'll see many teams will run clock.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

You will see the same thing in college football....The huge gaps in scores rightly
or wrongly tend to give an edge in national rankings.
I like it when betting large favorites and overs
in college sports. Some would call it "square"...I don't accept "square" or "sharp";
only "winners" or "losers".Comment -
