There two different types of gamblers...Pags is an early bird line player and most lines move for him in the long run....This takes incredible knowledge and skill...Only for pros as an uninformed gambler of this style goes broke quick. Not saying that Dave doesn't have the potential (i look at his plays weekly) but he is more of a line movement player who values line moves and betting patterns of public, squares , sharps etc (waiting for an attractive line rather than jumping in early and challenging the bookmaker 1vs 1)....This is much better for the recreational gambler cause you cant get barreled in quite so quick...Id take Pags anyday if you can get on early with his lines because his style is more profitable (when played by a pro), but I also think Dave is an up and coming capper and glad to have both these guys on the forum....

Anyone can post the best lines on Friday/Saturday after watching the lines move all week. Doesn't make them anything special.

Pags posts his plays when that # is still available (or attainable through matchbook)....More than often the line then moves in his favor so if you didn't get with him early you are having to bet with points added on....Over the long run these point will cost you several games if you tail him but get on too late....Where is the logic in that Funny?????

Pags posts his lines early. He rarely benefits from line movements. He is very sharp and honest.

I've seen him post expired lines (even Pico called him out on this) and edit his lines to a more favorable one. If he had to post current lines with proper juice, he would be exposed as nothing special.

I think benefitting from line movements by playing so early is what makes Pags such a sharp player.....I am not criticizing Pags I get on his lines almost weekly

.....it's not like pags wins his plays by 1 point consistently.....
even IF he posted plays after a small move, which I dont think he does. That's not the reason for his good record

Totally understood, but if you tail Pags all season and you miss a point here 2 points there...you will not end up with quite the same record...However sometimes the line also moves against him so you can play with a few extra points in your own favor if you wait....Every gambler has his own stle and every tailer tails his own way.....Bottom line is if you want to have the same exact winning record as Pags at the end of the season the best possible scenario would be to get all of his picks at the # he gets them, which I haven't had a problem doing all year.....Unfortunately I try to cap many of my own plays and f**k it all up in the long run.....Basketball is my capping sport

Fading me over the last 3 weeks has been a profitable affair.
Don't fade me this week though. This week I will have a winning record.

I didn't realize my post count would have a bearing on my opinion but I understand that I suppose.
I get the pleasure of talking football with pags every week since a few weeks into the season. I have never met him personally but all of my interactions with him point to him being a good , honest person. So that is the basis that I make that determination.
I know for a fact he is honest with the line he achieves and there are others that could also confirm that. Instead of wondering how I come to the conclusion that he is a stand up guy , I would wonder why anyone would think that he is not.
His record speaks for itself. At some point I have to consider the likelihood of jealousy being at the heart of a lot of the attacks directed his way.

sorry gentlemen, I just now saw this thread...I won't be partaking in a contest with Dave...dave is a fine young capper, I enjoy his enthusiasm and he will continue to get better as he gains experience...I'm reaching the end of the season, and am still watching a lot of film each day, a contest just doesn't interest me...if you need to refer to my record, be my guest...I appreciate most of you in this thread, and at SBR, for all of the support and respect you have given me this year (and over all the years I've been here)...as most of you know there were issues with me posting my bookmaker lines, yet recording my plays at even money...I made an adjustment at the beginning of the year to post my matchbook plays rather than my bookmaker plays...I did it not only because the bets were made at -110 and the matchbook plays I make average out to be around even money, but also to make it easier for people that choose to follow me each week since the lines have a tendency to jump around when they first come out...for example, my bookmaker line on the NCSU game this week is +13, yet I choose to post +11.5...I will never, ever apologize for being sharp...I don't rub it in anyone's face unless they piss me off, but I won't feel bad that someone turns on their computer on Friday night and sees that the numbers for my plays have changed dramatically...I post my offers once they are accepted and if you are around your cpu at the time I post them, you can get the same line...for anyone that has ever played at matchbook, you realize that over the course of the season by having wagers accepted at reduced juice, that it ultimately increases your profit margin at the end of the season...betting at matchbook does require patience, some people choose not to use them as an out because of this...anyone, and I stress anyone, that claims I am posting false numbers or juice, is simply jealous from the lack of success they have had over many years of gambling (or this particular year), either that or they don't have the ability to fund a matchbook or pinnacle account (which is really not my problem)...I've said before that I am an intermediate player, and that I handicap for recreational purposes...using matchbook if you are betting two dimes a game is only going to be worth it if you make wagers the day of the game...for me though, and for many of us out there that bet in the range that I do, matchbook is an excellent option (one of the top two in my opinion with bookmaker, with betjamaica/the greek being a close third)...if you are patient and post your offers on Sunday night at a fair price, you can easily get them accepted...it's quite simple really, a line is 7 everywhere, and you post the team you want on the game between +102 to -102, you've got a great chance of having your offer accepted...what's even further puzzling is that out of the many plays I have made this season, not a single play I have posted has caused someone who tailed my picks to lose because the number was different...the only game that could be considered an exception was ASU vs. USC where in numerous posts, I specifically recommended the play up to -28 (USC ended up winning by 28, although the line opened -24.5)...not another single play this entire year has the number mattered, so what is the fuss about?...again, I don't recommend just blindly playing my picks regardless of the time in which you play them (Mon. AM say compared to Friday night, obviously the closer you play them to the time I post them the closer you will be to the number I post)...the other thing I find funny is that no one ever seems to complain when the line moves in their favor, as I try to be on the right side of the line move 2/3 of the time, although I usually end up being right around 70% to 75% of the time...I'm never going to be right all the time, nor is any handicapper for that matter...why people choose to take shots at me after they have losing weeks, losing seasons, or because my threads get more views than theirs I'm not quite sure...I don't have time to worry about it...I have never lied about one line or juice that I have gotten, ever...my handicapping ability also speaks for itself...I choose not to comment on the people who feel the need to make false accusations, when I could easily rip them for their losing records and suspect handicapping ability...this is the last I will comment on the matter, but the next time you read one of these hater poster's comments, just know that you don't want to end up like them and try to remember to give all handicappers the respect they deserve (or don't deserve)...thanks again for all of the support gentlemen...
