No offense, but I think I read the same thing from a casual band wagon bitch on my facebook newsfeed. Sports are much more complicated than that. Phillies fan in philly tells me Verlander is God, how much VALUE DOES THAT HOLD? Very little. Even HE said Giants can win due to their bullpen. Phillies fan, Again.

There's no doubt that Verlander is the best in the game, but this is the World Series- not the Super Bowl. It's arguable that Cincinnati has at least as good of a staff as Detroit even without Cueto (the Tigers allowed 82 more runs than the Reds in the regular season despite playing a strength of schedule ranked 13 spots weaker), and the Giants were able to sweep them at home. The difference here is that the Giants have the home field advantage in this series, although it's debatable how much of an advantage playing at home really is for them.

Another factor I think people are overlooking is San Francisco's considerable offensive edge over Detroit. This isn't the same inept lineup that won it all in 2010 (literally; Pablo and Posey are the only two position players still in the lineup from that season, and perhaps Huff if he plays DH). This is the 2012 Giants offense that lead the league in runs scored on the road.

Like the Cardinals last year overcoming so many near death situations in their path to title, Giants is destined to win it all this year. Long layoff time is not good for Tigers. Playoff is all about momentum and rhythm.

Bats could be cold, so even a mighty performance from Verlander might seem them lose a tight game and then you're looking at the Giants at what price? I took SF pre-Game 1. Sometimes you out smart yourself trying these angles. For me, makes sense to go with who you like pre-Series and then if the situation presents itself where the price does go up ... you can always jump on for a bit more. Just my two cents.

Gotta roll with the Giants here. I feel they are just as good as detroit and with +161 available I can't see how you can't take them. They have the experience of 2 years ago as well. They have the arms to match the tigers. They have timely hitting. They want this so bad and I know the tigers are a very hyped machine with baseballs stud pitcher and stud hitter but so often those teams lose in these spots. The giants will have even more value if they lose game 1 but I never take the chance of waiting till the second game. The time off does not bode well for the tigers as well. I like the tigers fans as they are very passionate nowadays since they got good again. Nice battle of fat boys sandoval and fielder as well but man prince does not seem like a big game guy. I think the giants carry momentum here and win in 5 maybe 6 games.

Giants haven't faced any pitching even close to Detroit's. Verlander wins Game 1 and Tigers at worst split before coming back home and probably finishing them off there.
