Every week people pick a new team they overreact to.....
So who's the best right now?
Atlanta Falcons...(Predicting they'll lose to the Eagles next)

Take away 2 robberies with Packers they are 5-1 and #1 in 90% of power rankings but people think 6-0 for ATL means something and they will be #1 tomorrow
Best proven ability, D coming together, with the best QB its Packers

So you are saying Baltimore/Patriots/Falcons/etc. are not going to win their divisions?
I think Niners clinched theirs very early last year.

Same bullshit year after year with the Falcons, they're a great regular season team. they'll never win in the playoffs with their current team, not tough enough.

atlanta has a 3 1/2 game lead, could be a 5 game lead at the end of october with 9 to play
i would call that essentially winning a division title
i will give you every team in the afc north other than baltimore, every team in the afc south other than houston, and every team in the nfc south other than atlanta.
and i'll give you big + money

I still think that the Texans are the cream of the crop. They had a horrible game tonight - but they have EVERYTHING you need to win a Superbowl. Shaub is mediocre, in the scheme of things, being their weakest link and Andre Johnson surely is not who he has been... But that defense is superb. One game does not decide a season, for certain. I'm really shocked GB was able to put a 40 burger on them - but that shows their 'high end'. The way the rules are and such, a premier offense at the right time can beat the best of D's.
Atlanta is a very good team. They've been a very good team for years now. They also have a questionable QB come playoff time. Ryan is having a great year, though (hard to have a bad year with their top tier wideouts and Gonzalez, whoever your QB is). I'm just uncertain of their defensive ability overall. They have a solid D, but it can be beat with a good gameplan. They also have playmakers - which can overcome a great game plan. It's hard to pin just how good Atlanta is. I think they've under-achieved quite a lot in recent years. This COULD be their year.
As far as I'm concerned, Houston and Atlanta are better than everyone else right now - with the Giants just outside that conversation. But if there's 1 game and you had to put it all in the middle right now - Houston is the best team in the NFL, IMO. They made a HUGE tactical error going to the air early/often vs GB and ran in 'no duh' situations. It was a flawed plan. It happens. You just can't touch their running game when they commit to it. But also, losing Cushing showed something in their D. It's just not the same. That roidhead is f'n great - and they won't get him back. But it DOES matter that Watt is playing on a level I've not seen since the proper LT or Reggie White. Gamebreakers don't grow on trees, they show up maybe 1 time every so often.
Heck - you can't even count on baltimore with Webb and Ray Lewis likely out for the year. They lost, IMO, their best player + Ray Lewis.
All the teams have flaws and it should be fun. It's almost impossible to predict who is going to be the best at the end of it all.
I think, like any year - spreading money on dogs NOW to WIN their conference in the playoffs should be profitable come said time.
I like waiting to week 12 and shooting for long dogs. It's a good strategy, especially in the NFL. It's just too hard to figure it all out after 6 weeks.

As a Patriots fan, this pains me to fukkin say it, but I think it's the Giants. They're like the St. Louis Cardinals of the NFL. May not have the most talented roster in the league, but they SHINE when it counts.

There is no best team or worst team in football.

Eli Manning is one of the top three smartest, has the best touch and timing of any top 5 QB in the NFL. Unreal.
And Victor Cruz is just a flat out talent. Can run so many different types of routes and make amazing grabs it's scary. JPP probably the best DE in the league raw talent wise.
WTF are you talking about?

Atlanta won't even win a playoff game. Struggling against Panthers and raiders at home doesn't look good. They should have lost both last and this week and these wins will actually hurt them in the long run as it is a false sense of security. They better get homefield through out or they will be bounced in the divisional round again.

Only one guy in here still says the Texans? Wow.
The Pats are also up there with Hernandez coming back, and I still like my preseason choice of the Giants to win the superbowl.

ok maybe some division titles are already won
my point is that the teams playing the best in october often do not win the superbowl
look at the packers last year as a perfect example. 15-1 record and then they get blown out in the divisional round
it is all about who gets hot at the right time
or even the ny giants in 2008. they started the year 11-1 and then they laid an egg in the first round of the playoffs as -4 home favorites to the eagles

This is a crazy easy spot in 2 weeks. Cannot wait to hammer this line. Off Vegas pr should be like -1.5 but could be -3 cause it's so ridiculous
