Well, rednecks are usually viewed as more slow, behind the curve, etc. New York is viewed as a more progressive area. The south tends to be more behind the curve, rural, traditional, etc. Statistically speaking the south is the dumber part of the country. Higher illiteracy, poverty. Plus a lot of southerners have bragged about being apart of that culture.

Redneck refers to literally having a red neck from being out in the sun too long and getting a bad sunburn. Usually it's from driving tractor out in the farm fields, but could also come from any kind of outdoor physical labor in the sun. City guys that sit behind a desk all day don't get that bad sunburn on the back of their neck. It's probably mostly a rural thing.

Yes, I was probably considered a redneck when I was born, but I've been fighting my entire life to escape this label and have been only somewhat successful, IMHO.

Nxgga refers to a profound historical context including slavery and segregation, as well as the associated harsh racism that still exists today to some extent.

Redneck mostly refers to a skin condition. There isn't the profound historical context regarding an entire race of people.

If he filled out an application, he would check the African-American block and no one would question it. He is black for all intents and purposes. Most tribunals require a 25% blood quantum to be considered Indian. Hawaiian natives usually require 50%.
