Something has to be proven to be a fact, atleast I thought that's how it always has been.

Well, the word proof, as it's used today, is purely utopian. Science doesn;t prove things, just disproves them. You hear the word proof/proove in circles like church and the court system. The reason for this is that they can't make an argument, so they use strong language to compensate. How many people have been proven guilty, then later completely absolved? How many times do preachers promise to prove things, then keep delaying it?

There can be historical facts, but proof is something for people who can't "proove" the issue being discussed.

really? I checked a census yesterday on google and minorties make 46% of the population, so if blacks are 12% that leaves 34% of latinos, indians, etc... interesting

So you're grouping blacks and all other racial minorities? Isn't that racist? Many Latinos are Catholic, rendering them to vote for the party that falsely claims to be moral. I think the real surge was more age than race. Most elders, virtually all voted McCain.

Right, pretty much agree with that, but the question is, and it is really moot other than casual conversation, is that of was the rush more about race or age? In a way they are one in the same, as you say, many 20-30's are racial minorities, but who knows which was more compelling, Obamas race or his appeal to their youth? Again, really moot becuase it doesn't matter, but the truth is that as the conservative electorate grows older, the Republicans have a lot of work to do to appeal this demographic. Perhaps they have to bring their own racial minority up like Condoleza Rice, but I think it's more than that, I think this young group wants to be more like Europe socially and that's where they'll see thru a Rice.
