Anyway, teh debt has grown from 5.5T to 10.2T in almost 8 years of Bush, the war spending is about 700-800 B, so no, the debt runup is caused byabout 15% war and mostly tax cuts and huge military spending. The US spends almost exactly the same as the rest of the world combined, we're 4.5% of the world's population; guess where a lot of the $$$ is going? We need to raise taxes on everyone, cut military spending in half for starters and go from there. That is what Clinton started on and he turned 12 years of Reagan/Bush 250B/yr debt increase (3 T total) into 18-33B his last year in office. IOW's, he turned the debt increase basically flat and then Bush almost doubled in 8 years what Reagan / Bush did in 12.

But to answer you, no, the war accounts for about 15% of Bush's total debt increase.
